I'm ageing, its a fact. I think it happened over night, it must have I never saw it coming. I just woke up about a month ago and boom I have wrinkles round my eyes and mouth, weird grey patches on my skin and dark circles! Yes I know I sound gorgeous! I could cope with the dark circles if I was out on the town every night, but no, I'm tucked up in bed with my Horlicks by 9 every night. Booo! Anyway I really can't go about looking like I'm a 70 year old party goer so a trip to to lovely Clinique lady was in order armed with the boyfriends credit card (shhh!)
*Buying it*
Clinique are very clever, they always have some sort of promotion on encouraging you to buy three items when you only need one in return for a nice bag of goodies or a few hundred boots points. I always end up taking them up on this offer so I came out with lots of boots points this time and lots of samples which are great for the make up bag. I went in with no make up on just to show her how hideous I was and she immediately recommended Clinique all about eyes concealer. She applied some for me and wow! I was hooked! I did buy two other items too which I needed too... no really I did! It all came to around £50 but I don't buy it often so I didn't mind too much. The concealer was £15 for 10mls, yes the tube is tiny but a little goes a long way.
You can apply this with your finger, a sponge or a brush. I either use my foundation sponge or my finger depending on how lazy I'm feeling. I apply mine after my foundation simply because it stays on better and you tend to use less after foundation as you already have a little layer of coverage. The liquid is very thick almost like Vaseline without the grease. It goes on really well but sits on the surface rather than soaking in totally which gives a nice smooth matte finish. The Clinique web site recommends finishing it all off with a dusting of powder, but I have never bothered. You only need to use a tiny amount, the tube squeezes it out in a thin line and a few millimeters is quite enough. My tube will last ages.
*What it does*
Clinique promises that it disguises dark circles and reduces the puffy look but best of all it promises to moisturise. This is great since there is nothing worse than scaly dark circles to top it all!
I can't say I have noticed that it reduces the look of the puffiness. My circles are more dips than bags, they go in rather than out. So I suppose unless I buy some concrete to fill the gaps I am stuck with them! Or maybe a couple of bulldog clips would work to pull back the saggy skin?
It does disguise the dark circles though, it instantly makes them the same colour as the rest of my face. Yay! I have very, very pale skin, I'm a typical English rose. Even so I ended up getting colour number three out of four which is light petal. It is well worth trying them all out because I would have chosen number one first.
I did have a spot the other day and had a great idea that I would put some of this on, BAD idea, it was far too heavy and felt greasy on my chin, certainly keep this to the eye area. It is nice however on your eyelids and shadow goes over it and sticks well.
*8 hours later*
Well to be honest nearly all my make up is Clinique and I'm used to it all lasting most of the day, my foundation needs a top up at lunch and so does the lippy but I don't need to top up the concealer. I usually just whip a bit of foundation over the bags and they look fine.
*Verdict*
I am so impressed with this product, it doesn't feel heavy or greasy and it covers well without looking shiny. I will buy it again when I run out but I expect that will be a long time to come. It has a faint medicated smell to it nothing too strong and I've never noticed it before but I just had a sniff for research purposes!
If you have bags then have a try, there are cheaper alternatives out there but they are not as nice as this, trust me!
