leaving a greasy residue to moisturise and relieve dryness. Smoothes body skin. A combination of rose essence, sandalwood and chamomile has toning and astringent qualities that also give a sense of calming. Civet and jasmine, ylang ylang and oakmoss provide stimulating appeal while at the same time soothing the senses. Soft, creamy lotion contains the famous Aromatics Elixir perfume.

Christmas is near, men are racking their brains at what to buy that special woman in their life, and the women are hoping for something extra special. Well this may be the answer.
I think Aromatics is a special occasion perfume, special because it makes me smell, feel and act special. You know the days, important meeting, night out, or even an important night in, well this is the smell that does it for me. I've tried various perfume products, but you know how women seem to have a favorite, well I never did. I used to browse the shelves of the duty free, and the best bargain always went home with me. Well not anymore.
Last year I met someone, only briefly, but even after she left the smell of her perfume lingered in the air and it was lovely. You know how some perfumes are heavy and sickly, well this wasn’t. It was pleasing to the senses in a sweet kind of way. I liked the way it was heavy enough to linger but it didn't attack your nostrils the way some scents do in a sickly way. The next time I met her I asked her what perfume she wore, and armed with the information I went in search.
Aromatics is made by Clinique, it sells in most major chain stores including Boots and House of Frazer. I bought my first bottle of this perfume just before Xmas last year. This is a good time of year to buy in Britain as most of the major stores have gift sets on offer and are competing against each other for your money. Some stores are willing to do a deal if you buy more than one item, don’t be shy to ask and shop around for the best deal.
The perfume comes in 10ml, 25ml and 45ml bottles. The prices vary slightly but on average are as follows.
10mls ~ £17
25mls ~ £27
45mls ~ £37
Obviously the 45mls is the best value if you can afford it. I paid £34 in the duty free shop at Manchester this April so not a big saving there. Although pricey it compares fairly well to other major brands and it really is long lasting. You don’t need to carry it in your handbag to top up during the evening. I find the scent is long lasting and good value.
The bottle is a fairly uneventful shape; tall and rounded at the top it actually fits well into the palm of the hand. The gold looking top sets it off nicely. The perfume itself is standard urine coloured, not a peasant description I know but honest and I think we all know perfume pretty much looks like this anyway.
Clinique describe Aromatics as ‘Touching the senses and spirit in subtle, pleasing ways. Aromatics Elixir appeals to the individualist in every woman’.
I personally find perfume hard to describe but I’ll give it a go. Ok, I sprayed my wrist, shut my eyes and inhaled.
To me Aromatics conjures up images of elegance, sophistication and erotica all rolled into a smell if that makes sense. I think smells conjure up different images for different people but if I have to put Aromatics into one word, I’d say ‘Class’.
Now perfume doesn’t smell the same on everyone, I suppose we’ve all bought something at some time that smelt great on others only to find it totally different on ourselves. I’d certainly suggest you try before you buy. All the major stores will have samples and you should spray your wrists and under your ears. It’s tempting to go mad with free samples but remember that you should only use as much as would at home to obtain a realistic effect.
If you like the perfume, don’t buy it there and then. Carry on shopping for about an hour and then see how you feel. Some perfumes don’t linger well on some women and others find the strong perfumes too heavy after a while. I personally find Aromatics stays at the same concentration for quiet a few hours so don’t overuse the testers for a true effect. I have one coat for special occasions and every time I put it on I immediately smell the perfume on it. It’s strange but I feel ‘dressed up’ as soon as I wear it and I’m sure how you feel affects your posture and behaviour.
If you really feel like splashing out, the Body Soother is a lovely accompaniment to the perfume. It smells exactly the same and is creamy and easy to apply. It leaves the skin feeling lovely and soft and as you move you’ll notice the scent. I only apply it to my arms and neck area as it’s too expensive to use all over.
So ladies, try a sampler next time you’re in town, and if you like it drop a few hints for crimbo.
Advantages: smell gorgeous Disadvantages: a bit pricey
...the old whiffy stuff.
Clinique is a brand I've used since Adam were a lad, especially the skincare stuff, which is a bit pricey, but well worth the money.
I first used aromatics over 13 years ago, when my gran bought me it as a gift for my 18th birthday. My original thoughts when opening this carefully selected gift (my grans idea of being carefully selected is giving my mother 20 quid and saying see what you can get for that luvvie) was "oh god ... ...back, you could only purchase clinique products from dept stores like debenhams, house of fraser etc, but a few months back whilst shopping in my local savers I noticed whilst the shop assistant was ringing in my goods the perfume counter behind her had the familiar packaging of my much loved aromatics. I asked her how much and was amazed to find it at a knockdown price of £27 for a 45ml bottle (usually £37-40 in dept stores). So as you can imagine ...

...the top of this opinion. Clinique don’t go in for gimmicks like brightly coloured or oddly shaped bottles. Their products are classy and the packaging reflects this.
Following on from the classy image is the fact that Clinique products are only available in certain stores. In Walsall the only place that is allowed to sell this brand is Debenhams. This presumably adds to the exclusiveness of Clinique, and so makes it appear to be worth more.
... ...get some free girt vouchers. Clinique also do offers where, if you spend a certain amount on their products you get free gifts. It would certainly be worth looking out for these offers and making the most of them to treat yourself, or to get someone else to treat you! ...

Advantages: Little goes a long way really nice fragrance Disadvantages: none
I have only just discovered this perfume and I love it. The fragrance is from Estee Lauder subsidary company Clinique.
Aromatics comes in a lemon coloured box and the bottle is glass as shown in the picture with a spray top. It retails between £20--£27 for a 25ml size and can be bought at most good department stores and chemists as well as on line from various perfume discount sites.
The fragrance has a rich woody dry character with light violet ... ...include
Rose de mai for toning properties
Sandalwood and camomile for cleansing
Orange blossom to relax muscles
White jasmine
Oakmoss and Patchouli
When first sprayed on it is quite strong and spicey but settles down to a subtle slightly flowery fresh smell which lasts on me until I wash it off which is good because normally perfumes don't last that long on my skin. I have had many compliments when wearing it from both men and women and from ...

Advantages: Beautiful Scent Disadvantages: Only sold in certain stores.
Cliniques Aromatics Elixir is to me how the perfect scent should smell. It is light and sweet, yet, subtley noticeable even hours after putting it on. I first came across it when a woman was wearing it at a wedding reception, and I had to know what it was and have bought it ever since. It is one of those perfumes that people who wear it will recognise instantly and those that don't will be asking you what it is. It is a sweet yet exotic scent.

Advantages: Long lasting smell Disadvantages: Very Few
...perfume is Aromatics Elixir by Clinique the American skin care company. I have been using this faithfully for many years now and I was surprised to find out recently that this perfume has been around since 1968. More than 30 years later this smell is still popular with many women. I tend to like perfumes with a strong fragrance and so I find this just right for me. It has a rich blend of floral and herby smells and the unique part of this perfume ...

...Having fallen in love with CliniqueAromaticsElixir perfume II thought I would give the matching body wash a try.I had a birthday coming up so asked my husband to buy it for me which he duly did bless him.
The body wash comes in the same lemon coloured box as the perfume with AromaticsElixir Body Wash in gold coloured writing and the following on the back: Now the famous complexity of AromaticsElixir can wash the body with scent. For shower apply body wash to moistened skin and complete your shower as usual. For tub bathing dispence gel under running water to create a scented foam that leaves skin fragrenced cleansed and softened. There is then a long list of the ingredients which don't really give any idea of what it smells like so I won't bore you with them.
So on to smell. Obviously it smells the same as the perfume...

Advantages: The nearest thing to perfection you can get Disadvantages: The price but it's worth it!
...As part of my Christmas present Dave bought me a gift set of my favourite perfume, namely AromaticsElixir by Clinique.
I have had the perfume on a couple of occasions but have never received any of the matching toiletries before. Dave, take a gold star for your gift purchases for Christmas 2001.
The set in question cost just over £40, I know because I had been drooling over them in Debenhams! The set came in beautiful gold box with just the word Clinique written in capitals across it. It was simple but classy, as this product richly deserves.
Inside the box were a 2.5 fluid ounce container of body smoother, a 1.5 fluid ounce bottle of perfume and a 4 fluid ounce pump action container of body wash.
This opinion is specifically about the body wash as I have already submitted one on the perfume and I shall do a further one...

Advantages: It smells divine Disadvantages: It's a bit expensive
...If there’s a fragrance that is guaranteed to make me go weak at the knees it is the unmistakable smell of Aramis. By the way I am talking about the after-shave not the musketeer.
I just love the smell of Aramis after-shave. It is as simple as that. It is a subtle, woody extremely sexy smell without being overpowering and heavy. It is very similar in fragrance to Clinique’s AromaticsElixir, which I also adore.
I buy it for Dave and when he wears it he’s sure to get lots of hugs from me so that I can have a good sniff of the Aramis! Do enjoy hugging him anyway – honestly!
At about £30 for the 60 ml bottle it is a bit more expensive that your average supermarket brand, all right so it is a lot more expensive, but it is well worth the money. It comes in a classy, masculine, square shaped bottle, which is...
