I don't know of many people who would go out and buy themselves a bottle of perfume on a whim and I am no exception. I find buying perfume for myself an extravagance I can ill afford, and to be honest it never seems to smell as nice when you've shelled out the best part of forty quid of your hard earned cash.
My birthday is almost here and I have told my partner that a box of ferrero rocher will no longer constitute a 'well thought out gift', and that I would certainly be partial to a bit of the old whiffy stuff.
Clinique is a brand I've used since Adam were a lad, especially the skincare stuff, which is a bit pricey, but well worth the money.
I first used aromatics over 13 years ago, when my gran bought me it as a gift for my 18th birthday. My original thoughts when opening this carefully selected gift (my grans idea of being carefully selected is giving my mother 20 quid and saying see what you can get for that luvvie) was "oh god if my gran's bought it it will probably smell of rosewater or lavender. How wrong was I?
I loved it as soon as I sprayed it, and being a frivolous 18 year old the bottle didn't last me more than a month or so, and subsequently being a penniless student aromatics and I were never to be as one until many years later.
Up until a few years back, you could only purchase clinique products from dept stores like debenhams, house of fraser etc, but a few months back whilst shopping in my local savers I noticed whilst the shop assistant was ringing in my goods the perfume counter behind her had the familiar packaging of my much loved aromatics. I asked her how much and was amazed to find it at a knockdown price of £27 for a 45ml bottle (usually £37-40 in dept stores). So as you can imagine I snapped up my bargain and left the shop much happier than I went in.
The bottle comes in a plain yellow box with gold writing, and the bottle is a lovely frosted glass, no naked torso for me thank you, no sireee. A classy bottle filled with pure luxury.
Now im no expert on perfumes, and I couldn't tell you a top note from my elbow, but I know what I like, and I like this - a lot.
Its a fairly heavy scent, so if your using it for the first time, be stingy as too much is overpowering, and then if you want to top it up you can.
I wouldn't say it is a daytime perfume, more a one for special occasions, and the price definitely reflects this.
I've had mixed reviews from friends and family, whereby most of them loved it but the odd one commented that it smelled like air freshner. Ah well you can't please everybody.
A little of this perfume goes a long way, and therefore even though it is expensive, if used correctly it will last for ages.
This perfume is one of my all time favourites, and has been around since 1971, paying testament to the fact that this perfume is loved by all generations.
I didn't get any from santa (I dunno why I asked him really nicely *sniff*), so hopefully my fella will come up trumps for my birthday next week and buy me a bottle of my favourite whiffy stuff.
Thanks for reading
