I'm a graphic designer, I work from home and I have an unhealthy interest in skin-care products and makeup :) I buy so much stuff all the time so I thought I should share some of the experiences I've had with different products

For years I've had milia on my cheeks, but I didn't know what they were. Since I read that milia only appears around the eye area, I always presumed that I'm just prone to whiteheads. Although they're not really whiteheads since they look like bumps under the skin. They are trapped skin cells. If I tried to squeeze them, I'd make an absolute mess of my skin and they'd then turn into inflamed spots that can be popped. However for the first few days, there would be nothing but clear liquid in them. I was always puzzled by this.
And then I came across a forum where someone was talking about their cheek milia and I recognized my problem. Funny enough, the advice to try Clinique Clarifying Lotion came from my boyfriend. He uses it all the time and claims that's why his skin looks amazing, despite having oily skin. Don't you just love metrosexuals lol.
So I decided to give it a go, being very sceptical cos I knew that nothing ever cleared it up beofre.
When I applied the lotion to my cleansed face, it started to sting and I thought this was me having some kind of a reaction to it. But my scientist boyfriend said - "it's supposed to sting a bit, this stuff breaks down skin cells because of Hydroxy and glycolic acids. Just give it a chance." So I did and I'm glad I did - after a few days of using it twice daily, I noticed that milia bumps were significantly smaller.
Apparently you can get rid of the bumps if you pop them with a sterile needle, but I wouldn't really want to do it myself. And since I get milia frequently, I'd rather have something I can apply to it, then having to run to a beautician everytime they come out again.
I still get milia if I skip a few days of using the lotion but at least now I know there's a solution to my problem.
I've also started using the lotion in conjunction with Clinique exfoliating scrub and the combo really helps. And all this exfoliating makes me looks about 3-5 years younger :)
Here's the list of ingredients:
witch hazel, alcohol denat, water, salicylic acid, glycolic acid, copper disodium edta, d&c green no5, fd & c blue no1
If you are sensitive to any of these ingredients, I'd use it with caution. Especially the acids - glycolic and hydroxy (salicylic acid) are quite strong.
Also you shouldn't use this for milia on/around your eyes for obvious reasons.

Advantages: tightens pores, reduces pimples and blackheads..exfoliates! Disadvantages: can smell like pure alcohol..can dry the skin out if not using the right lotion for your skin
Advantages: Helps my skin, doesn't contain harsh chemicals, doesn't leave my skin with that 'tight' feeling Disadvantages: Only comes in the 200ml size, quite pricey.
