The Clinique facial soap is advertised usually as part of the Clinique three step program (clinique cleanse, clinique tone, clinique moisturize) which always makes me feel like I have my own personal trainer. To write this review I had to cast my mind back a few years to a younger self at age 18, not entirely terrible skin but pores the size of moon craters (and what the heck was I wearing?? Who let me out of the house in THAT??). Now now where was I at? Chocolate biscuits that's right.. oh no that's right - I just want one of those.. this ones about Clinique Soap.. anyway so the moon landing was faked, I know this because I found Buzz Aldrin on my chin in one of my pore like craters. The Clinique facial soap is advertised usually as part of the Clinique three step program (clinique cleanse, clinique tone, clinique moisturize) which always makes me feel like I have my own personal trainer. Cleanse Emma, Cleanse. Tone that face - tone harder! I have tried this several times but its not for me - I have a side affair with a different moisturizer which doesn't seem to yell at me. So despite heavy advertising you don't have to use them all together, in my own little rebellion I just use the soap - take that corporate Clinique giants (shaking in their boots they are).
Clinique the company though is well on its way to world domination taking over inch by inch with makeup, skin care, a men's range, whitening skin care, hair care, sun care.. Launched in 1968, Clinique has 100% fragrance free, skin care and makeup products - the fragrance range is not fragrance free though.
Conveniently for Clinique its Clinique employed dermatologists believe that soap works best. Obviously not your usual budget supermarket soap but Clinique soap. Having tried many an other facial cleansing product I tend to agree. I'm the kind of girl that's constantly seduced - by advertising that is - and sure if I just use that new rinseable/dryable/clear/foaming facial cleanser I will look decidely younger, and decidely better than I do and therefore this will lead to being seduced more. It never works and I always return to Clinique and my skin always rejoices and looks better. How skin rejoices I don't know but sometimes Buzz wears a party hat.
Now this little yellow bundle of joy is non drying (to your skin that is), removes dirt and oil and also works to loosen surface flakes. BUT the best part of it all? It comes with instructions. No really. If you ever wondered how to use facial soap the instructions direct from Clinique to you are: With tepid water, lather soap between palms. Massage lather over face and throat. Rinse off. Pat skin dry. Use twice daily.
What they don't mention is a trick that I have come across. Get yourself a facial brush and use that instead of washing with your hands. Not only are you not touching your skin with your hands (which all beauty queens will no is a no-no when face touching) but your soap lasts a whole lot longer. Mine lasts about a year and that's a long time in the land of soap. The use of tepid water is recommended by those Clinique Dermatologists as it helps to dissolve the soap and any oil.
But I have dry dry skin I hear you cry and soap is bad for that. I would cry too if I had dry dry skin. But those lovely dermatologists at the Clinique lab, aside from agreeing that soap is best, have also come up with a soap for skin types in very dry to dry, dry combination and combination oily/oily skin formulas. That's more combinations than a McDonalds menu (mind you if you were at the McDonalds menu all the time you might want to look for the oily soap).
Not only does it come in a variety of combinations but if you buy it you will get a free set of steak knives. We-ell not quite, but you do get a dish with the soap. This little dish houses your soap making it easy to travel with and keeps it from getting wet, except of course when you want it to. There a dish that slides out to the side and there's one with a lid. Both come with that silver Clinique writing that first caught my eye and are green, though they seem to be funking up (that's fuNking up) their dishes these days and they are more of a clear green plastic. The dishes also have a little strainer on the bottom so the soap stays dry. This all comes to you in a little green cardboard box.
How much? £9.50 for 100g and £12.00 for 150g. Now if that sounds too much like I'm selling drugs then you can aim for the three little soaps (50g each) for £12.00. I often hear people say that they think Clinique is a bit too pricey, but if you do keep your soap going for a year that means you have spent £12.00 a year on facial cleaning product. Now thats a cheap year (just dont take into consideration masks, special masks, facials, moisturiser, toner, pore strips...)
Clinique is available most everywhere. Not at petrol stations or book stores but most everywhere where beauty products are sold. Boots, Debenhams, Duty Free etc etc or you can buy online at www.clinique.co.uk.
The website clinique.co.uk also has beauty advice, membership options, skin advice, tips from the expert and all their products. Hours of Clinique related fun.
Clinique Headquarters are to be found at Clinique Laboratories, LLC. Corporate Headquarters 767 Fifth Avenue New York, N.Y. 10153 U.S. Though its not altogether too heavily advertised the Clinique brand is a part of Estee Lauder.
Now researching for this I was a bit disheartened to find a few links that said Estee Lauder does test on animals but according to the PETA site http://www.caringconsumer.com Estee Lauder and Clinique are listed as being bunny free. Phew. This means that they have either signed PETA's statement of assurance or provided a statement verifying that they do not conduct or commission any non required animal tests on ingredients, formulations, or finished products and that they pledge not to do so in the future. The PETA page has a lot of information about all animal tested products and what you can do to help out.
Clinique tip? Now im sure you all know about these but big cosmetic companies often have promos - keep an eye out at department stores advertising as Clinique products often come with a bonus pack. How I love those mini sized products and cheerfully dance around "it was free"!
Advantages: Actually work to reduce oil, compact Disadvantages: Not good on all skins, part of a routine (althoough you do get used to it)
My experience with the Clinique Facial Soap was an eye opener! When you first think of cleaning your face with soap, (well myself at least) I was actually quite negative as normal soaps can dry your skin and alter the natural production of oils within the face, therefore not seeming te best option. However the lady at the Clinque counter was quick to intervene.
Who is it recommended for?

The Facial Soap is recommended ... ...to purchase and price

Clinique products can be purchased from most major department stores such as House of Fraser and Debenams, to stores such as Boots (often the larger retail stores). Once you have found the products right for you, it is easy to order online. Prices are either £9.50 or £12 dpending on the size you opt for. To be honest the price is great given that a normal bar of soap lasts for absolutley ages ...

...3Step Type 1,2 programme from Clinique (see my review if you wish), which left me believing this regime of wash, exfoliate, moisturize with the Clinique products was just fodder, freeing innocent people of their hard earned cash, but I was wrong in the end. I always liked Clinique products, and had been disappointed when the 3Step programme didn't work for me, but there was a reason ... ...So why did I give Clinique a second chance? I received the 3Step programme for my skin type from my mum as a gift, she bought it for me in the States as it was much cheaper, and she knew I used some Clinique products.

...is that people such as Clinique are finally giving us chaps something to shout about in the realms of skin care.
I could list quite a few of my problems hehe, but one of the most annoying is the trouble I have had with my skin. Well clinique describe this product as having all the benefits of Clinique's facialsoap in a liquid formula. It is supposed to prep skin for exfoliating without drying the skin and it comes in 3 different strenghts, these are - extra mild, mild and oily and you choose the one which is best suited to your skin type which can either be dry, a combination of oily and dry or very oily, the bottle has a convenient pump that dispenses just the right amount each time you use it .
I have found all this information to be completely true unlike some products that i have tried in the past which tend to bend the truth a bit to sell there products for eg. clearasil who say that your spots will start to go in just 3 days of using there products is a complete lie anyway back to clinique, the product is fragrance free which is good as you can ...
Having tried a few Clinique products and being left disappointed that they didn?t work as well as I?d expected, I?ve always avoided, despite many attempts by several friends to ?convert? me, trying the Clinique 3 Step System. I finally gave in however, when one of said friends bought me a 3 Step Gift Set for Christmas. She knows I have oily/spot prone skin, and so she got me the set for skin types 3 and 4, which is for normal to oily/oily skin. The 3 Step System, for anyone who doesn?t know consists of, you guessed it, 3 steps, as follows: Step 1: Cleanse (FacialSoap or Liquid FacialSoap), Step 2 : Tone (Clarifying Lotion), Step 3 : Moisturise (Moisturising Lotion or Gel). My step 1 is the Liquid FacialSoap Oily Skin Formula.
Clinique?s Liquid FacialSoap is priced at £13 for a 200ml bottle, or £15 for 3 50ml tubes which would be ...

fit 3 step skin care system, of which the newly launched Liquid FacialSoap is a part along with their exfoliate and clarifying lotion and dramatically different moisturising lotion.
What it does
Removes facial dirt and oil while working to loosen surface flakes without "stripping" your face in the way some cleansers do. Ideally, you will use this as part of the three step skin care treatment outlined above, although I use it on its own (bad girl!)
You can choose a soap to fit your skin type - Very Dry to Dry, Dry to Combination and Combination Oily to Oily skin. As I have combination skin with some dry patches around the nose and jawline, I use the Dry to Combination soap.
It is worth mentioning that Clinique also do a facialsoap bar which claims not to ever dry. I haven't tried this so cannot venture an opinion in this instance ...
