On my 17th birthday I received a very nice gift box, it was a Clinique gift box and the perfume contained inside was ‘happy’. This scent is just lovely and fresh. It’s got this fruity, floral vibe to it and I have to say along with ‘Ralph’ it’s my favourite perfume.
Ever since I received it last year I have continued to use Happy as it is just one of my favourite scents ever.
I am quite picky with my scents; I always want a scent to describe me. I think happy describes me well, cause I’m just a happy little girl. I know this may sound silly but when I wear this perfume my spirits are instantly lifted. It just makes me smile, as this scent is so sweet.
~~THE GIFT BOX~~
When I received Happy it came in a beautiful orange box, which had a 3D butterfly on it. Orange is the signature colour of this scent so all the products contained come in different shades of orange. The box itself opens up very easily. On the side tabs it says Clinique but doesn’t say it on the front of the box. I think this makes it look more sophisticated. On the back of the box is all of the usual information such as the ingredients, sizes and company address.
Normally though, when you buy the perfume on its own it comes in a long bright orange box, which suits the perfume a lot.
~~THE GIFT BAG~~
Inside the gift box was a lovely transparent orange travel bag. It is shaped, as a small backpack but has no handles. The bag has a bright orange rim and is made out of plastic. The plastic on the bag is a tinted orange and very metallic. Just from looking at it you can see this is a very expensive bag. On the top of the bag is a very chic rectangular zip which has Clinique written on it. The zipper opens up on the top so you can just about get out the products contained within.
~~THE BOTTLE~~
What dinky and posh packaging. It’s really plain but very classy at the same time. It’s got a clear bottle, which is long with a silver top to it. Clinique is written in white and Happy is written in orange on the top of the bottle. It’s a very thin bottle, which is described, well with one word. Sophisticated. It is very easy
to use also, when you squirt it, quite a bit comes out and covers my whole wrist/neck/wherever, which is handy, but when you look in the bottle not much has been used. One of the problems with it is that if you try to squirt a little bit it’s plain impossible because quite a bit comes out.
~~HOW THE PERFUME IS DESCRIBED ON THE BOX~~
Clinique happy. A hint of citrus. A wealth of flowers. A mix of emotions. A chic, modern, multi-layered floral with sparking, lingering fragrance of Ruby Red Grapefruit, Boysenberry Bush Flower, and Hawaiian Wedding Flower. These exotic notes have never been used before in a fragrance.
~~THE PERFUME~~
When I took the perfume out of the bag it was covered in a Clinique wrap to keep the bottle safe, I thought this was very useful and ideal. The scent is the nicest I’ve smelt in a long time. Instantly it reminds me of summery, sweet days. I also think it resembles the scent of oranges or tangerines (or any other citrus fruit). It has a floral scent to it. I personally think this scent is so fresh and invigorating. It instantly comes across as floral and feminine with a modern twist. The scent is so fresh and unique its hard not to love it. It really is so sensual and is a must for me. The way the product is described on the box is absolutely right. I wear this product every day and find it reminds me of summer. Most perfumes do anyway but there is something so different about this one. It is just so unique, and exhilarating. The scent is sweet but in my opinion it has quite a tomboyish twist to it but only slightly. I still think its very feminine but with a modern feel to it. I think this scent is perfect for the modern daygirl. I think it would be more suitable for teenagers and people in their early twenties. It seems like it is more suitable for the younger market but I have seen plenty of ‘happy’ mothers day gift boxes so I guess it isn’t specifically made for the younger market.
~~NOTES OF PERFUME~~
Ruby Red Grapefruit,
Boysenberry Bush Flower,
Hawaiian Wedding Flower
~~THE BODY CREAM~~
The body cream is a lovely little product. It comes in a long bottle with an orange cap. To bottle is transparent so you can see the orange cream. The cream isn’t to thick or thin but just right. When you put it on the scent is very uplifting and noticeable. The scent is a heavier version of happy in my opinion but very delightful to use. When I get out of the shower I use this and it softens my skin a lot. I am not exaggerating at all but this makes my skin feel so wonderful. I use it all over and it really does hydrate my skin. The size of the bottle was 100ml and came free with the gift box but on its own for 150ml it costs £22.
~~THE BODY WASH~~
The body wash comes in exactly the same bottle as the body cream but it isn’t transparent but still is the exact same colour. The texture is quite thick and easy to apply. It lathers up nicely and you don’t have to use too much to cover all of your skin. The scent isn’t as strong as the body cream but it still manages to leave your bathroom smelling absolutely divine. I love using this product whenever I have a shower because it leaves me refreshed in the shower, which I find so impressive. Most body washes fail to do that with me but this product is just excellent. The bottle that I use is 100ml and came free with the gift but to buy it on its on it costs £17 for 200ml.
~~HAPPY BODY SMOOTHER~~
The body smoother is just another cream but how is it different to the body cream then. Well firstly it comes in much better packaging. It comes in a long sleek bottle, which is a pale orange. The cap is dark orange. This cream is lightweight compared to the body cream. The only reason I purchased it was because I became happy mad and wanted absolutely everything in the range. The body smoother leaves skin feeling soft and silky. The body cream does the same thing but I’ve noticed the smoother lasts longer and the softness is still there at the end of the day. This isn’t always the case though as my friend says the body cream lasts longer on her skin so it depends on how the cream reacts to your skin. The smell is also lovely and very similar to the body cream. It is ideal to use with the perfume spray. I bought this product in a 200ml bottle for £19.50.
~~HAPPY BODY SOAP~~
The soap was given to me as a bonus by the Clinique lady when I purchased a whole bunch of Clinique products. It was only available for a limited time. It was body soap and I have to say it left my bath smelling absolutely wonderful. I used it and it left my body refreshed and feeling great. It left me thinking why on earth Clinique do not sell the product. The one thing I adored about this product was that it lathered up very easily. It left me feeling clean, fresh and invigorated.
~~HAPPY FOR MEN~~
When it was my best friend’s birthday I decided to get him some Happy. Male version of course. The bottle is squarer than the woman version. It is a lot more masculine and the colour of the bottle is a darker shade of orange. The top is silver. Max only wears decent fragrances for men and is just as picky as I am so when he did wear it, it made my day that I bought something nice for him. It just proves that the men’s fragrance is just as good as the women’s. The fragrance isn’t like men’s aftershave but more like a perfume for men. It is very crisp and clean. It has the same invigoration as Happy for women. The scent is a very refreshing and attractive scent. Guys if you want to impress the ladies I recommend you try this ;)
~~OTHER PRODUCTS~~
HAPPY CANDLE - On my last visit to the United States I noticed my aunt had a Clinique Happy Candle. It was absolutely divine. It made her living room smell like a happy heaven. The product unfortunately is not available in the UK, which is such a shame, as I would love to place one of those candles in my room.
HAPPY BODY POWDER – Now this is a product I have only tried once as I was borrowing it from a friend. This product is amazing. It is talc free and is ideal to use just before you get dressed for a lively all over happy feeling. It really does soften your skin and also leaving it smelling lush.
CLINIQUE HAPPY HYDRATING BODY MIST – this is a much lighter substitute to the perfume. It is just as good and absorbs into the skin really quickly. The smell isn’t as strong but still satisfactory. The bottle is a very bright one. The bottle is very distinct and has a cute shape to it.
HAPPY ROLL ON – Now this is such a nifty little product, which is so useful. It comes in a lovely silver bottle, which is tall and thin. It is so chic and sophisticated. This product is so handy if you don’t feel like carrying your big bottle but still want to smell ‘happy’.
~~THE PRICES~~
I didn’t buy this perfume myself but I got the gift box as a present. The gift box costs £35, which comes in a clear orange bag with Clinique happy (50ml) happy body cream and body wash.
The 50ml bottle costs £29.50 and the 100ml bottle costs £42.50. This may be expensive for a lot of people so I would say why not buy the gift box which is £35 and comes with the 50ml bottle and a body wash and body cream. It would work out cheaper. The men’s version of Clinique happy costs £25 for 100ml.
The body cream costs £22.00 for 150ml.
The body smoother costs £19.50 for 200ml.
The body wash costs £17.00 for 200ml.
The men’s body and hair wash costs £14.00 for 200ml.
The men’s anti-perspirant deodorant stick costs £11.00.
The men’s aftershave balm costs £25.00 for 100ml.
If you buy two items from the Clinique range at the bonus time offer you get a box with eight Clinique goodies in it. There is a small bottle of Happy, inside which fits into your handbag, which is really useful for the girl on the go. You can use it and see if you like it. You can also get small samples of the perfume from your local Clinique counter.
~~WHERE IT’S AT~~
Clinique Happy is available from all Clinique counters in department stores such as Debenhams, Allders, House Of Fraser, Beatties and Rackhams. I have to admit I haven’t seen Happy sold in boots but I have seen it sold in the bigger stores, which have a Clinique Counter.
~~ADVANTAGES~~
One of the main advantages of this product for me is the fresh, invigorating fragrance. I absolutely love the scent. It so unique and feminine. It literally leaves me happy so the product does exactly what it says it will!
The perfume lasts for absolutely ages and I’m not kidding. I used it and went to college as usual and I honestly couldn’t smell it. the next day I wore the same jacket and my friend said your wearing happy aren’t you.
Also the wide variety of Happy products is a major advantage for me. There are so many things to choose from. If you don’t feel like a perfume you can get the body mist, which is also good.
The packaging of the Happy range is so feminine and sophisticated. Definitely the stuff I love to put on my dressing table.
~~DISADVANTAGES~~
For me personally there are no disadvantages but I do know plenty of people who would say these prices are ridiculous. I am the type of person who will pay a fortune for beauty products anyway so it doesn’t really bother me. But trust me the products listed here are all worth it, they are 100% quality so you really are getting your money’s worth.
~~OVERALL~~
I personally use this product every day to make me feel summery! I also use it for special occasions so I really do think its ideal for any occasion. You can spray it whenever, wherever.
This perfume really has taken over as my favourite scent (along with Ralph). I use it a lot and it’s still not finished! If your looking for a fresh, sweet, feminine scent I really do recommend this, I am sure you’ll love it as much as I do.

I like the normal Clinique but I hate this version. Sorry. Julia
