This mascara comes in simple packaging, a sleek black tube with a silver top. Nothing over the top, simple and understated - it doesn't need to be, when you use the mascara it speaks for itself.
I think the magic to this mascara is the brush - it has both the normal brush and a comb on it. Now after the Clinique assistant applied it and showed me the wand I thought it looked hard to manipulate and that I would not be able to create the magic. Nothing could be farther from the truth.
You can apply the mascara in one of two ways, either using the comb and brush alternatively to both thicken and keep your lashes neat. The alternative and the method I prefer involves starting with the brush on the underside of your top lashes and following through with the comb in one swift movement - sounds a bit harder - but trust me it's not.
The result I have found is really thick and longer looking neat lashes. I always used to go for the slightly false looking lashes and this mascara does something inbetween natural and false - you can see it's there, but you notice how well defined they are rather than the fact that you've got loads of mascara on. Spider leg lashes are a thing of the past.
The mascara keeps really well too. You never get that gunky stuff round the top of the bottle. I'm too lazy to wipe mascara tops like you're supposed to, so it's nothing to do with me looking after it any better than I normally do - it's just not something you do not need to contend with.
I bought my mascara at the start of January and have only just used up my first bottle. That's about four months, so not bad going in my humble opinion.
The mascara is not waterproof and does not come in a waterproof version, so if you are a waterproof mascara lover then this won't be for you. However, the mascara does not smudge and stays put for a whole day. I am not the kind of girl to re-apply mascara throughout the day and thank goodness because you really do not need to. From this little tube of magic you will be awarded defined, smudge free lashes all day long.
The mascara comes in black and black / brown. I have used both, and both are great. I would choose my colour depending on the eyeshadow I am going to wear, however, both give you really well defined and somewhat dramatic lashes.
I have quite sensitive eyes which tend to stream particuarly when using harsh products. I have had no problems with this mascara at all and use it every single day.
The mascara will cost you about £13 - about twice the price of other mascaras I have used previously, it is well worth it and actually lasts longer as there is no gunking up of the bottle, because of this I think it is better value.
You can by this mascara from Clinique counters in large department stores and chemists. You can also by it online. Prices may vary slightly so it is worth shopping around.
Like i've said before this is a wonderful mascara and from now on in I will always make sure that I have a ready supply for when my current mascara runs out. Judging on the last one, i've got at least three months before I need to worry about it again.
Sometimes I say buy a sample on ebay before trying, I wouldn't even say this with this mascara. Just buy it, you will not regret it.

WATERPROOF?
Nope, nor even very smudge proof. Marks your pillow.
COLOURS?
Black, Black/Brown, and a Chocolate 'limited edition' version. I only use black, but given my increasing age and grey hairs should probably move onto Black/Brown.
DOES THE BRUSH & COMB COMBO WORK?
Not really. Instructions ... ...Lewis when I bought some Clinique skincare, in order to qualify for some freebies, being cheapskate, but …
WILL I BUY IT AGAIN?
No, back to old favourite Lancome Definicils mascara for me - but I might buy a lash comb to try separately, afterwards, and I recommend (as if I need to) that this would have to be washed well after use.
UPDATE: - about a month after I bought the damn thing the brush snapped clean off the wand and I although as I say ...

...impatient .So I just grabbed Clinique High Definition and hurried out without giving it much thought.
Even though I bought it without deliberation,I was pleasantly surprised by the product's effect. I am blessed with naturally thick long lashes. My husband who has never exactly complimented me after our marriage about my looks, commented out of the blue that my eyes looked very striking and beautiful. At first I could'nt beleive my ears!!.
I found ... ...lens on. It does'nt flake even after a long time. With the 2 in1(comb & brush) wand, it is easy to apply.
It really does give the extra volume and length to the lashes, giving the eyes a beautiful smoky look. Removal is also easy. And it's priced quite affordably.
But it does clump slightly.
Pros:-affordable price,adds to the volume and length of the lashes,lasts long,does'nt flake,does'nt irritate
Cons:-slightly clumps, not water proof

In a mascara i want lenght, volume and people to notice my lashes. This deffinetly gave me all three. The first time i weared this i was very amazed with the quality it deffinetly gave me volume and lenght and i also got lots of positive comments one person even thought i had false lashes on! so i deffinettly got attencion to my eyes. I have been wearing it for about three weeks now and iv noticed it is really easy to apply and i get an even covarage ... ...but just one is plenty with this one so it will deffinetly last a while.The brush is a dual one - one side is for applying the color and then it has a comb to brush out your lashes so that you can create definition for each lash i found the comb very usefull as it separated my lashes and gave them more individual volume for each lash. I would 100 percent reccomend this to anyone. ...

Advantages: Works great, lasts for a good while. Disadvantages: Quite pricey, not waterproof.
Clinique's High Definition Mascara has been my favourite choice for the past year now. It's even my best friends choice, after i used it on her while doing her make-up; she went and bought it too! (Yes, i know it's terrible to 'share' mascara incase you spread eye infections, etc..)
Anyway, i found the 'comb/brush' duo to be a great idea; i used the comb first to indivdually coat my lashes, then the brush to add volume - it definitely works for ... ...asked if i'm wearing false-lashes, but when wearing this mascara; everyone commented on my eyelashes, saying how they looked as if they were false eyelashes, as they were so long!
However, when i fell asleep once with the mascara and awakened to find garish black marks all over my pillow; i didn't make the mistake of falling asleep with the mascara on again!
Apart from that, i only have postive things to say about Clinique's High Definition Mascara; ...

It's strange how some people love a product and some hate it! I really like this mascara, I didn't think I would, for when I first bought it and used it for the first few times I found the mascara just stuck my eyelashes together when I used the comb, but after about the fourth time of using it, I found the mascara to not be so thick and combing through was alot easier and seperated and exagerrated my lashes beautifully instead of turning them into ... ...and again the first 3-4 days found it too thick but now am getting on really well with it again. I think using the comb really gently and lightly coming your lashes without adding too much presser is the answer to keeping them looking defined and not clumpy and zig zagging the comb along them. However, I think next time I will try Cliniques High Impact mascara to compare as I see it has alot of good reviews. ...

Apply L'oreal Panorama waterproof (this is the only mascara that will hold the curl). I realise that it may be a little difficult to apply because of the consistency of this mascara, but keep at it and it will definitely keep your lashes curled all day. Let dry.
Apply a volumnising mascara (I like Clinique's high impact, but L'oreal Intensifique, Maybelline's Volume Express, etc. are fine). Use an eyelash brush to brush through in between coats. Repeat until desired effect is achieved. ...
