QUICK UPDATE: Meant to update this before - see WILL I BUY IT AGAIN? below, for another reason why not.
WHAT IS IT? An 'ordinary' mascara, with the business end of the wand being half brush, half comb. Clinique products claim to be allergy tested and fragrance free. Usual slim black cylinder packaging, silver cap/wand holder.
WATERPROOF? Nope, nor even very smudge proof. Marks your pillow.
COLOURS? Black, Black/Brown, and a Chocolate 'limited edition' version. I only use black, but given my increasing age and grey hairs should probably move onto Black/Brown.
DOES THE BRUSH & COMB COMBO WORK? Not really. Instructions are that you brush on mascara as usual, and then use the comb to divide and define lashes, in that order.
This mascara is thicker than I am used to. With all mascaras I find I have to wipe the excess off the wand with tissue before using, ie wasting most of it. I am not a professional beautician, as anyone who sees me can tell, so perhaps I am doing something wrong, but I think this combination is just a gimmick. The brush is narrower than most, which may suit some, the mascara goes on a bit clumpy, and the short toothed comb, being also impregnated with mascara, adds more clumps even as it divides lashes. So it does not separate, lengthen and define to perfection as claimed. Having mucked about with this and tried cleaning off the comb, I can see that it might divide the lashes nicely if you are quick to wipe it and use it while the mascara on your lashes is still damp enough, but longer lashes? No. A longer toothed lash comb might be an improvement to aid definition.
When you switch from one eye to the other you have to move the wand around ie back to brush, not comb, mode, a small thing but irritating if you are not used to swivelling dual wands.
EASY TO REMOVE? Nope, not with soap and water - I know, I know, you are supposed to use eye make-up remover, which does work and you'll need it with this mascara.
PRICE? I paid £12.00 for it in John Lewis when I bought some Clinique skincare, in order to qualify for some freebies, being cheapskate, but …
WILL I BUY IT AGAIN? No, back to old favourite Lancome Definicils mascara for me - but I might buy a lash comb to try separately, afterwards, and I recommend (as if I need to) that this would have to be washed well after use. UPDATE: - about a month after I bought the damn thing the brush snapped clean off the wand and I although as I say I had to clean it I only gave it a careful wipe - not pulling it about. So thanks Clinique, but I'll stick to your skin care products from now on.
WHY DID I BUY IT? In addition to the above miserly motive, I saw some guff about this gimmick in a women's' magazine, and for once chose to succumb to the twin evils of advertising and vanity.

I've just written a review on the mascara and then decided to see what others wrote. I have had a completely different experience and think this is the best thing since sliced bread. Maybe they've improved it. It gives me longer lashes, is not clumpy, thick and will always use this from now on.

Great review I won't be buying that, I think us fellas get off best, just shaving, I know there are products I should use and my wife bought them for me but the time........ I sit here with stubble on my face because shaviing is a pain too. Seriously, I prefer not too much make up on a lady, you are all nice enough anyway. Your warning about this is good for all wearers. David
