I bought this mascara after having a makeup trial for my wedding at a Clinique counter in a well known large department store.
As I decided to do my own makeup for my wedding I had loads of trials, thus tried loads of expensive mascaras. Previously I had always gone for cheaper brands and had been impressed by some. Though I can say now that I will never go back!
This mascara comes in simple packaging, a sleek black tube with a silver top. Nothing over the top, simple and understated - it doesn't need to be, when you use the mascara it speaks for itself.
I think the magic to this mascara is the brush - it has both the normal brush and a comb on it. Now after the Clinique assistant applied it and showed me the wand I thought it looked hard to manipulate and that I would not be able to create the magic. Nothing could be farther from the truth.
You can apply the mascara in one of two ways, either using the comb and brush alternatively to both thicken and keep your lashes neat. The alternative and the method I prefer involves starting with the brush on the underside of your top lashes and following through with the comb in one swift movement - sounds a bit harder - but trust me it's not.
The result I have found is really thick and longer looking neat lashes. I always used to go for the slightly false looking lashes and this mascara does something inbetween natural and false - you can see it's there, but you notice how well defined they are rather than the fact that you've got loads of mascara on. Spider leg lashes are a thing of the past.
The mascara keeps really well too. You never get that gunky stuff round the top of the bottle. I'm too lazy to wipe mascara tops like you're supposed to, so it's nothing to do with me looking after it any better than I normally do - it's just not something you do not need to contend with.
I bought my mascara at the start of January and have only just used up my first bottle. That's about four months, so not bad going in my humble opinion.
The mascara is not waterproof and does not come in a waterproof version, so if you are a waterproof mascara lover then this won't be for you. However, the mascara does not smudge and stays put for a whole day. I am not the kind of girl to re-apply mascara throughout the day and thank goodness because you really do not need to. From this little tube of magic you will be awarded defined, smudge free lashes all day long.
The mascara comes in black and black / brown. I have used both, and both are great. I would choose my colour depending on the eyeshadow I am going to wear, however, both give you really well defined and somewhat dramatic lashes.
I have quite sensitive eyes which tend to stream particuarly when using harsh products. I have had no problems with this mascara at all and use it every single day.
The mascara will cost you about £13 - about twice the price of other mascaras I have used previously, it is well worth it and actually lasts longer as there is no gunking up of the bottle, because of this I think it is better value.
You can by this mascara from Clinique counters in large department stores and chemists. You can also by it online. Prices may vary slightly so it is worth shopping around.
Like i've said before this is a wonderful mascara and from now on in I will always make sure that I have a ready supply for when my current mascara runs out. Judging on the last one, i've got at least three months before I need to worry about it again.
Sometimes I say buy a sample on ebay before trying, I wouldn't even say this with this mascara. Just buy it, you will not regret it.
