In the modern world, men are encouraged to moisturise and that's all very well if you don't have mates like mine, but as most men probably do, they'll understand why I'd sooner be caught with my pants down than be spotted in front of the mirror applying moisturiser, and I suspect I am not alone.
Conversely, I do want to look my best, and without a little discreet maintenance, some of my smooth skinned peers will have an edge over me. My own skin is rather average, but occasionally, usually in cold or windy weather, it will begin to dry out and tiny patches of dry skin will appear on my cheeks. Hardly of major concern, but it is the little things which, if left unchecked, can eventually conspire to undermine one's confidence.
I have tried various moisturisers and, generally, I hated them. Some even when used sparingly left my face feeling so wet that my natural inclination was to wipe it dry, no doubt removing the product in the process. Others left my face feeling sticky or lent it an appearance so shiny that passers-by stared at me to check their reflections. All of them, without exception, triggered those red boil-type, under-the-skin blemishes, which can render the handsomest mug clown-like.
For me, Clinique M Lotion was a revelation. The smallest amount rubbed gently into the skin goes a long way. It is absorbed quickly, but leaves the skin feeling smooth and natural. It has no scent and apart from the skin's improved, healthy appearance, it is undetectable. It is the only moisturiser I have been able to use, which doesn't trigger the "two days later blemishes".
The packaging is unassuming, being a conservative grey as opposed to neon-pink, and if spied in a sports bag, could easily be mistaken for a shaving gel.
It's very expensive, but if your experience with other moisturisers is similar to mine, then I'm sure you'll find that the beneficial effects of this product do justify the price.
You can get M Lotion in most of the larger Boots stores and some supermarkets, but if you want to buy it online you can get it from Clinique's own website or from Amazon quite reliably.
Buy it and apply it, but don't let your mates catch you!
