Oh ok, not quite 'the ugly'....

I approached this product with an open mind, looking for a lip exfoliator as I had flaky and dry skin on my lips. The Clinique assistant recommended this product and gave me a test sample. After a few seconds the moisturiser-looking cream transformed my lips from dry, sore and flaky to smooth, soft and kissable. Here comes the first negative point about Clinique 'all about lips' - the price tag. It comes in at £15 for 12ml, although the assistant assured me that as you only need a tiny bit the (smallish) bottle, for want of a better word, it would last me for ages.

Despite this, and my lips feeling great, I decided against purchasing the product and continued my hunt for Christmas gifts, only to return 20 mins later having changed my mind!

When I got out to the car the effects of 'all about lips' seemed to be wearing off, and my lips were feeling drier than before so I slathered on more, and the beautiful feeling returned. I found this reapplication every 10 mins or so to be a constant must otherwise my lips became 'papery' and dry. Yet I am noticing that I can now go for close to a few hours without feeling the need to reapply.

Physicality's:
The packaging is light green and fairly expensive looking, with the ingredients down the side. Inside is a leaflet with a blurb in 12 languages about the product but disappointingly no instructions on how to actually apply the product (although I had been told by the assistant, not all who purchase this will have) which mentions nothing about it being a exfoliator, which was, if you remember, my reason for approaching the counter. The bottle itself is fairly compact, with a pump dispenser, which pumps out far too much if you fully depress it, so a 'half-pump' will give you the perfect amount.

I don't like spending money on expensive beauty products, and this product hasn't changed my mind. It felt great at first, yet worse afterwards and a week later, is only starting to be a benefit. It's Clinique and therefore we are obliged to think it useful and effective (if only to justify the price in our minds) but for even half the price I'm sure I could find a product that does the same job or better.
