I have been using Clinique Naturally Gentle Eye Makeup remover since March this year when I got a free sample in one of the gift packs. Clinique offer “bonuses” at certain times of the year so that when you buy any two products you get a selection of samples to try, usually around 8 ranging from lipsticks, perfume, cleansers, toners, anything from their range really.
As normal for Clinique their sample size was more than generous at 30ml. The bottle is on sale itself for £11 for 75ml so the sample is a good fiver’s worth so I was very happy.
The sample is a miniature version of its bigger brother. It comes in a flip top, highly squeezable plastic tube. The flip lid has a handy
indent so you can easily open it without any hassle. The tube itself is see-through green plastic so you know how much is left. It’s really easy to get the exact amount, as when you squeeze the bottle and then release it, any excess is drawn back in to the tube.
The lotion itself is bright white and has a very thin, creamy consistency. As with all Clinique products it is fragrance free, though it does keep any natural smells of the ingredients. It smells just like baby lotion which is neither offensive nor intrusive and it is just a gentle smell on the senses. The product has been ophthalmologically tested, meaning that the eye doctors approve! As your eyes are such a sensitive part of your face you need to know that the products you use will not react to your skin. It has also been allergy tested. So no reason to scare me off from trying it!
I don’t tend to wear eye makeup daily as not only am I always in a rush but as I wear glasses I tend to neglect my eyes in my beauty regime. When I wear makeup I tend to opt for powder eye-shadows, black eyeliner and waterproof mascara. Before I used this product I used to remove eye makeup with baby lotion as I found it difficult to find a lotion that was delicate on my eyes. I was not completely satisfied with the removing powers of baby lotion as I had to use more pressure then I would have liked to remove any traces of eye makeup and that would cause slight irritation.
I squeezed a small amount of the lotion on to a cotton wool pad, closed one eye and gently swept the lotion across the eye. The lotion when in contact with the skin felt very soothing and had a mild, refreshing cool effect, very much like their All About Eyes lotion. I found that the makeup did not smudge around the eye area as it was being removed. Usually I end up removing makeup from one corner of my eye and moving it to the other side. After one sweep of the pad the makeup have practically all been removed from my eye area. I turned over the pad and used a tiny drop of lotion to sweep back across and remove any last traces. It left my eye area feeling moisturised and refreshed and free from any trace of makeup.
I have been very pleased with this lotion for many reasons. It has not caused any irritation to my skin. It is very quick and simple to use with minimum fuss or effort – always good! It soothes the eye area and leaves it feeling moisturised and refreshed. It smells nice and has no added perfume. Basically, in case you didn’t get the picture, I love it! The Clinique eye remover claims to be “virtually as gentle to eyes as tears” and I can completely agree with this.
My sample size was 30ml and this has lasted me a good four months so far with about half of the lotion left, though I have not used it daily. Clinique sell the lotion for £11 for 75ml which considering the competition is very steep but it does exactly what it says on the tin and lives up to all expectations. I use a very small amount as it is very effective and I also find that when I use this to remove makeup I do not use their All About Eyes so I save money there.
Personally I am hoping this will be a freebie again in the next bonus time as it is very expensive. If you have a spare £11 then try this as I don’t think you could get much better.
Don’t forget to join www.clinique.co.uk as this month you can get a free lipstick and you get exclusive offers each month too.

Sounds really good. I've just brought some simple eye make up remover. It's not bad but might give this a go. Debenhams have got a bonus on when you purchase two products from 14th - 30th October. I got my flyer through this morning. It includes the new mascara, a double ended one, the new foundation & a new coloured lipstick. Not bad! A great review, Laurie xx
