To me this is ridiculously expensive for a face wash, and I’d probably only want to buy it if I could get it cheaper on ebay or Amazon!
Packaging…
The sample size is exactly like the full size bottle just smaller. It is a white bottle with a slight pink tinge to it in the light. It has the classic min green Clinique colour cap, which clicks open and closed. It has a big C and Clinique below it in solid black lettering and ‘rinse off foaming cleanser’ written in lower class black font below this. What it promises…
Clinique says that the cleansing wash will:
“Effectively remove makeup and sunscreen, leaving skin moist, clean and fresh”
My Experience…
The face wash comes out of the tube looking more like a cream than a face wash. I’m used to face washes being a gel but this is a white cream. It has a smell similar to a block of soap which doesn’t sound that great but it makes it smell milder than if it were to have an artificial smell or a chemical smell. The texture is also quite different to others I have tried. It is hard to explain how it feels, imagine a bar of soap broken up and then whisked until it is a smooth cream, it is kind of like but as though you’ve added loads of moisturiser.
It foams up really well, you hardly have to use any as once you start to massage it into the skin it foams up loads. But its not bubbly foam like bath bubbles, its thick creamy foam that you can massage in for ages. It feels lovely and smooth, a bit like applying a face mask. It takes a while to fully rinse off because it is quite rich but once it has washed off it leaves my skin feeling really really clean, like squeaky clean! It feels great and my skin also feels quite soothed by it, it feels really gentle and doesn’t irritate at all. My skin also feels quite moisturised after use but after 5 minutes I need to apply moisturiser like normal. It contains chamomile which may contribute towards the soothing feeling.
I have been using it for a week now and am pleased with the results. My skin feels clean and fresh all the time and has not felt irritated for ages. I also think it has got rid of a few blemishes on my face, probably because it has got my skin so clean yet without irritating it and causing further break-outs. Also despite it only being a mini tube it is lasting really well as I only have to use a bit each time. This makes the price of the full sized bottle seem a bit more acceptable.
Once the tube runs out I will probably go back to the Garnier face wash I had been using previously but when that runs out I will be very tempted to buy the full sized bottle of this but will definitely be looking for a reduced price one on the internet!
Overall Opinion…
I think this is an expensive product yet very effective and lives up to everything it says on the bottle. When using it I can tell it is expensive and good quality, and the bottle lasts ages therefore I think it is fairly good value, although I still think it is slightly overpriced. Although the bottle says this is for normal skin I would also advise it to anyone with sensitive skin as it is really gentle and my skin can be delicate yet I have had no negative reaction to this at all.
Advantages: gentle on skin, a little goes a long way!!! Disadvantages: bit pricey but it does last ages as you dont need to use much
I have been using this face wash for too many years to count!!! I have tried others being fooled buy advertising but always ended up back on this one. It truely removes all signs of make up even waterproof mascara, I can tell as I have white towels and thankfully no make up signs left on them when dried. I have very sensitive skin so weary of changing makes but this rinse off cleanser does not irritate my skin, it is soft and creamy and washes clear ... ...the added bonus is you only need to use a small amount to get the job done, as it is a little pricey which I think can put people off it if not tried it before. In my opinion if I can honestly say try this product and you will not be disappointed, it doesn't dry out the skin as other soapy face washes can. Top marks in my book!!!!! ...

Advantages: Leaves you squeaky clean Disadvantages: Obsolete if you use the rest of the range
...conjunction with the three step Clinique plan (including soap, cleanser and moisturiser) but really unless you are some one that wears a lot of make up (which I don't) or have a particularly dirty job I don't really see the value of this product. For men using the Clinique range I would say this is not necessary - and for women that only use light make up I would say the same. The deeper cleansing action might prove useful though to either those ...

I bought this product because i suffer from slightly dry skin and believed that a good quality (in other words, more expensive) cleanser would be kinder to my skin while cleansing.
This product has a wonderful thick texture which is to be lathered up on wet palms. The product does exactly as described, it foams up meaning that a little goes a long way. You then massage onto a wet face working into all the areas but avoid the eyes as it really does ... ...area you are then told to rinse thoroughly. This is definitely wise as the product has a tendancy to leave the skin feeling tight, pretty much the same feeling as using soap. I would recommend using a good moisturiser after having cleansed as this product because although it doesn't dry out the skin as such, it is left feeling smooth and clean, but you can feel that the skin needs and extra something to bring back a glow.
As a cleanser it works ...

Advantages: Feels lovely and creamy Disadvantages: Adds an extra step in your routine
...this free when buying other clinique products and have been using it for about 1 week. I don't think that there is any difference to the quality of my skin, but it does feel lovely to use.
You use this before doing steps 1 (soap), 2 (clarifying lotion) and 3 (moisturiser) thus turning the process into 4 steps. You only need to use a very small amount of the product as it foams up when you rub it onto your face and feels really creamy, so a small ... ...if not longer. After using the soap as well your face feels really super clean and fresh.
I don't think that I would buy a full size tube of this product as I don't really wear a lot of make up where I think you would get the real benefit of a deep cleaning product. But it is nice to use and I would gladly use more if I got free samples of it again! ...

Advantages: Leaves skin so clean it really does squeak!! Disadvantages: Leaves skin feeling tight if used alone, need alterenative eye makeup remover
For me this cleanser does the job its meant for, its designed for makeup removal which it does perfectly but isn't suitable for use on its own as it leaves the skin feeling slightly tight. I spend alot of time in london and feel that after a day in the city centre that my skin needs a through clean and this does the job. I tend to wear waterproof cream eye liner and hard wearing mascaras for which I need a strong but gentle eye makeup remover for ... ...where I keep the rinse off foaming cleanser. Using a small amount I lather it up in my hands and run my hands over my face avoiding the eyes as I have found it stings. Then rinse off under the shower. This product needs rinsing off throughly and followed by a good mosituriser.
I think if you wear alot of makeup or are in areas of high pollution then use it as it makes skin feel so clean, but to be honest the liquid facial soap in the 3 step system ...

CliniqueRinse -offFoamingCleanser
I'm not really that big on labels and brands. If I like something, I'll buy it, but I'm not a person who will buy products x, y and z simply because the girl who sits opposite me at work has them, or because I wasn't to be "better" than Joe Bloggs who lives over the road.
Branding and Logos and big companies in general rely heavily on the whole "sheep" aspect of our tendencies in the area of consumer purchasing, and I for one am very proud to stand up and be counted as a "non-sheep"!!! To be fair, I'm probably a brand manager or marketing directors nightmare!
However, and there is a however, when I find something I like, however it is labelled or marketed, I do tend to stick with it.
My first experience of Clinique was this foaming face wash, and I came to use it when I got a free sample ...
Advantages: Makes skin feel great and lasts ages Disadvantages: Bit Pricey
Whilst dusting the shelf in my bathroom today I came across my tube of CliniqueRinse-OffFoamingCleanser and felt another Clinique review was about due!!
>>>So what is this product I hear you cry?
Well in the words of Clinique this is a concentrated foamy cream mousse cleanser!
>>>The packaging
This is packaged in a squeezable tube form. The tube is a generous 150ml size. As you can see from the picture Ciao have provided with this product the tube is a very very pale pink colour with a green plastic flip top lid that can also unscrew if you wish so! On the front of the tube is the customary ?C? logo that Clinique use on most of their products. Underneath the logo is the word CLINIQUE and below that is the product name of ?Rinse-offfoamingcleanser?.
On the reverse of the packaging are the directions for use ...
I have tried most products from the Clinique range in my quest for my holy grail product including the following, that i either bought foolishly, or had with a gwp.
Cleansers -
Clinique Wash Away Gel
(Combination/Oily Skin)
CliniqueRinseOffFoamingCleanser (All Skin Types)
Clinique Comforting Cream Cleanser (Very Dry/Sensitive Skin)
Clinique Take The Day Off Makeup Remover (All Skin Types)
All the cleansers i tried, made my skin feel worse not better, and the word paint stripper comes to mind.
Toners
Clinique Clarifying Lotion Mild (Very Dry/Sensitive Skin)
Clinique Clarifying Lotion 1 (Dry/Sensitive Skin)
Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2 (Normal Skin)
What bit of normal skin the cleanser left me with, the toner finished off.
