Advantages: Smells lovely and different! Disadvantages: None really!

During the later part of 2003 I noticed whilst shopping that Clinique had launched another perfume in the ladies range. This was called Clinique Simply. Me loving anything that is stamped New I just had to investigate this further.
I popped into Harvey Nicks one day whilst passing during lunchtime, ... ...way down is the words CLINIQUE SIMPLY in white bold writing. Below that are the words “parfum spray” in a sort of peachy colour and below that is the bottle size – this one being 50ml or 1.7 fl.oz
The reverse of the box is very plain with the Clinique logo embossed in silver in the centre and a list of the ingredients below.

During the later part of 2003 I noticed whilst shopping that Clinique had launched another perfume in the ladies range. This was called Clinique Simply. Me loving anything that is stamped New I just had to investigate this further.
I popped into Harvey Nicks one day whilst passing during lunchtime, to try this new fragrance. There was a very large tester bottle on display and next to that were little cards with a picture of the perfume and the name stamped on them. This was so that you could spray the card and take it away with you!! This was exactly what I did!! well after I had drowned myself in the stuff!!
I returned to work and produced this fragranced card from my bag and passed it around my work mates asking for their opinions on this new found fragrance. Generally it was well liked and most folks said it was OK. I loved it! It just smelt so different to other fragrances I’d had before. I placed the card on top of my PC and carried on working!!!
For the next few days when I arrived at work I would smell the card and the smell was faintly still recognisable! I decided that this fragrance was a must buy product!! - well once I had finished the 5 or 6 bottles currently open!!
So on Christmas morning imagine my surprise when I opened one of my many parcels and found a bottle of this!! My good friend had heard me going on about this so much that she decided that she would buy me this for Christmas!! Bless her!!! May I add that she also bought me an Elizabeth Arden lip balm that I love so much too!! What a brilliant friend eh!!!
So let me tell you a bit more about this lovely fragrance!!
ooo-THE PACKAGING-ooo
This perfume comes in a box like most perfumes. This box is quite a square-ish sized box and is only about 4 1/2 inches tall.
The box is wrapped in clear cellophane and once that’s unwrapped you are greeted with a lovely bronze coloured cardboard box. The bronze colour has a metallic effect with brush strokes across the box.
On the front of the box about half way down is the words CLINIQUE SIMPLY in white bold writing. Below that are the words “parfum spray” in a sort of peachy colour and below that is the bottle size – this one being 50ml or 1.7 fl.oz
The reverse of the box is very plain with the Clinique logo embossed in silver in the centre and a list of the ingredients below.
The overall packaging is very simple.
ooo-THE BOTTLE-ooo
Once you open the bronze box and look inside which is peach coloured, you will find your bottle of perfume.
One thing I love about perfumes in general are all the different sizes and styles of bottles that are available. This one is not some weird shape or size but is still very nice and again – simple!
The bottle is a small wide cylinder shape and is made of frosted glass. The spray bit of the bottle is a lovely shiny bronze colour matching that of the box. The actual perfume is a dark peachy colour.
The only writing on the bottle is on the front and in bronze writing is the words – CLINIQUE SIMPLY.
There is a shiny bronze sticker on the underneath of the bottle which gives some information such as parfum spray, 50ml and is made in USA. You are also given the Clinique address in New York.
ooo-THE SMELL-ooo
OK then I suppose this is the most important bit of info!!
Well after smelling this fragrance for the first time here are some of the words that popped into my head!
I just loved this smell instantly and knew it was for me!! Describing the smell to others is hard! For example when I smelt the tester card a few days later the watermelon smell was prominent to me yet others said they couldn’t smell it! You really do have to smell this fragrance to see if this is for you!
I have logged onto the Clinique website today (www.clinique.co.uk). Clinique have described the smell of this fragrance as “a sheer, vibrant new oriental fragrance that surrounds you with unexpected warmth and surprising depth”. They say that the emotion behind this fragrance is “a special time, special place”
ooo-THE COST-ooo
Well this was a present but after doing some research whilst shopping last week I noticed that for the 50ml size it is £32.00 and £64.00 for the 100ml size.
In my personal opinion as you are not saving any money by buying the larger bottle I would buy two smaller ones!! The larger bottle would just be too bulky for your handbag!
ooo-THE RANGE-ooo
As with all fragrances there are often body lotions and sprays to accompany the perfume spray. This is no exception. Other things available in the Simply range are:-
(Personally I doubt I will every pay £24.00 for a candle!!!)
ooo-My Thoughts-ooo
I loved this fragrance from the moment I first smelt it. One thing that has baffled me slightly is the fact that Clinique call this a “perfume spray”. I am used to things being called Eau du Parfum and Eau to Toilette!! Maybe I am just getting old! I reckon that this is the Eau du Parfum version as you only need to spray a little and the fragrance does last on your skin. In view of this, and as much as I love this fragrance, I feel that this might be a bit heavy for every day wear. I class this fragrance along with Beautiful and Samsara which I find strong smelling and long lasting fragrances too.
This fragrance is even kind to my ever so sensitive skin!! There has been many perfumes I have loved over the years but been unable to wear as they have caused an allergic reaction when applied.
If you are ever passing a perfume counter I strongly recommend that you have a sniff of this one! It is “simply” gorgeous!! I also loved the way that Clinique have made the packaging so “simple” too!!
If you like this and would love to try this but don’t want to spend £32.00 you might want to have a look on Ebay where I have seen 4ml testers being sold for only a couple of pounds!
Thanks for reading and I look forward to hearing what you think of this.
...one from Clinique, after smelling Clinique Happy one too many times (in the many Clinique bonus times of course), I was pleasantly surprised at the gorgeousness of this scent in my (then) new bonus time.
This perfume is the mixture of white flower petals, smoked woods, soy nuts, and soy milk...not that I knew that until I just researched it a few seconds ago! but on finding this out, im quite amazed at the unusual combination, and the fact that ... ...on the citrus-ey notes of Clinique Happy)
So now that I’ve given you an outline as to what my nose preferences are (!), you can hopefully appreciate what sort of smell Clinique Simply attracts; a warm and comforting, yet sweet smell!
Although not containing vanilla notes, this perfume would still fit under the "oriental" family in my opinion, especially because of the "soy" notes, and the "smoked woods"?
I\'d say this perfume is mainly an autumnal ...

Advantages: Absolutely gorgeous! Long-lasting fragrance Disadvantages: A bit steep price-wise in some places
...I go away anywhere, the Clinique stuff goes with me!
When I first smelled this it made me think of liquorice and I was very surprised when told this wasn't actually in it and it was in fact meant to have the warm snuggly smell of soya milk (?). Apparently it's supposed to evoke childhood memories and give a feeling of safety and well-being, which I think it does quite well without the milky reference!
I tend to go a bit overboard sometimes when ... ...say they smell me before they see me! To me, my perfume is as individual as my personality and I wear different perfumes by night than in the day time. A friend of mine that I saw whilst out a few weeks ago and that I'd not seen for about a month before (because of the distance we live apart) said that he'd smelled me in the (fairly) dark club we were in before he saw me bodily! The month previous me and my mate (the one that was with me when I bought ...

Advantages: Gorgeous fresh smell, perfect for summer, lovely packaging Disadvantages: Can be expensive; not always available in small stores
As a perfume fan on a budget, I would say that I am choosier than most about spending my hard earned money on luxuries. However, this is definitely worth it. This fragrance had me hooked ever since I smelled the sample one of my friends brought home. The name 'simply' is totally right for the perfume; it is fresh, clean and simple, though not bland, which could be implied. The staying power was excellent, as I could still catch a smell of it in the ...
