I own various different body exfoliants, salt rubs, exfoliating scrubs, and various different body buffing accessories, but nothing quite beats this. While others are all adequate, and achieve nice smooth skin, this product just seems to be slightly above them in several ways. The product contains scores of little granules, and although they may not be as large or as gritty as other exfoliants, I find they are more effective at removing that scabby scaly skin to reveal fresh new skin.
Most of you will probably be aware of how an exfoliant works, but for anyone who isn’t, basically it is like sandpapering your dead skin off to achieve a fresh clean skin (only not as harsh as sandpaper obviously!)
THE CREAM
I suppose containers and packaging shouldn’t bother me, but they do. I tend to look a lot at the packaging of products, as they sit in my cupboard after I’ve bought them, and if they don't look very inviting then I forget to use them as often as I should. I was rather drawn to the packaging of this product as it's in a smart jar with a silver top (same product as shown in the picture though) but it's not glass, it's plastic which I liked because I worry about dropping glass containers when they're wet (and glass is the last thing you want to be exfoliating with!!)
The texture of this exfoliating cream is fantastic. Unlike many other gritty exfoliators it doesn't fall from your hand and break into pieces when you pick it up. As it is a cream it comes out in a little smooth blob which you then smooth in circular motions over your body. Although it is one of the best exfoliators I own, it is not the roughest, believe it or not. It doesn't hurt or feel like it's 'scratching' your skin....just buffing and polishing it!
In addition to smoothing your skin it refreshes you with its light spearmint aroma and leaves you feeling like a snake that's just shed its tired old skin! It is not at all overpowering with its scent, but smells like someone sat next to you chewing a nice piece of fresh chewing gum. After you have used it you might feel a slight tingly sensation over the surface of your skin, but it is not unpleasant, it is quite enjoyable as you feel thoroughly clean.
I use this exfoliator approximately once a week/fortnight on my legs as well as moisturisers and body lotions to keep them silky soft. I do use it on the rest of my body, but less frequently – I sometimes use lighter exfoliators as I don’t need the gritty particles so much on places like my stomach and arms. There are no recommended guidelines on the packaging to state how often you need to use it, so you just use it as and when required.
PERFECT (FAKE!) TAN
I wanted to do San Tropez tan myself at home but unfortunately the first time I did it, it came out I was a little stripey and had dark patches where the lotion had collected on my dry skin (elbows/knees etc.) I wanted to try again but didn't want to fork out on the whole preparation kit that San Tropez sell so I thought I would try exfoliating my whole body with this before using the tan - and yes! It came out absolutely perfect! No streaks, no blotches, just an all over golden brown salon style tan! (It also lasted longer because it was not applied on old dry skin, so when I bathed/showered it stayed on for longer).
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
£16.50 for a 250 ml tub, which can be obtained from anywhere that they sell Clinique. This generally means larger Boots stores (think of those Advantage Card points!) and most major department stores.
FINAL VERDICT
This exfoliating cream is pretty reasonably priced I feel, at £16.50 a tub (250ml) because mine has lasted me over a year! (Admittedly I don't use it as often as other people might, but I don't feel I need to) so I have had great value for money from this product! I have been using it for over a year now and when mine runs out I will certainly be buying another!
Advantages: Effective, won't irritate skin, value for money, lasts for ages, great for fake tans Disadvantages: The smell is perhaps an acquired scent
...exfoliator since! Sparkle skin by Clinique is available to buy in either a squeezy tube or a tub, although having tried both I would say that the tub lasts significantly longer than the tube.
Having been converted to using fake tan after a bad experience in both the sun and on a sun-bed that was too hot, I decided the way forward was to fake it and from this I would also need a good exfoliator that would go the distance ~ Sparkle skin certainly ... ...ranges then consultants at the Clinique counters are more than happy to help you out, and more often than not they will give you free samples to try before you buy or alternatively for stores that are on Bonus Time, you are normally able to get a free GWP (Gift With Purchase) when buying any 2 products. This can be great because as a regular Clinique user, I've had many GWPs as different shops alternate when they do them (usually the major department ...

...tend to stop at the Clinique stand. They are renowned for their no nonsense approach to beauty products. You will not find their items including crushed pearls or dried watermelon just for saleability and consumer appeal. Their items are simple and honest and it is the same with this exfoliating cream. But I will say that simplicity does not mean that their products are of cheap quality. It is quite the opposite. This product for example is allergy ... ...It comes in the classic Clinique green colours. The pot is quite large 250ml which costs £16.50. My tub has almost finished and I have been using it regularly for about six months.
I suffer from in-growing hairs and so I need to have a good exfoliator to prevent them. I have used other creams such as the Original Source Mint and Tee Tree Scrub which was far too powerful and left my skin red and sore. This scrub gets the balance just right. I have ...

Advantages: Great smell, lasts a long time Disadvantages: A little harsh, body didn't sparkle
If you've read the Clinique body cream I wrote, you'll already know that I bought this as part of a twin pack! £16.50 on it's own, in case you're planning to buy it!
This exfoliator comes in a 250ml tub; the product is blue, showing through the clear plastic tub, with a silver lid-very chic and sits nicely alongside my body cream!
It polishes rough, dry areas such as elbows, knees, etc. It smoothes and refreshes the skin with it's refreshing smell. ... ...is nothing special about this Clinique one! It is really good at making your skin feel slightly softer and much cleaner-especially good for summer, when you're bearing your limbs! If you have not tried this, then I suggest you do-you won't be disappointed because it is a high quality product, if a tad expensive! It contains salicylic acid, which means that it gets rid of dead skin cells more thoroughly-just in case you're interested this ingredient ...

Advantages: ~Beautiful skin that shines through~ Disadvantages: ~You'll have to beat the guys off with a stick~
On one of my seasonal trips to Clinique®, I noticed that they had some new (to me) skin care products in. I inquired about one in particular and the sales lady jumped at the chance. "It's is great during the summer! This smoothes all of your dead-dry skin away, leaving behind the fresh, young skin beneath!"
What was this? Nature 101? Being an avid surfer, swimmer, scuba diver and beach-goer, I realize how nasty my skin can begin to appear. HOWEVER, ... ...does the trick. I bent beneath the pressure at the Clinique® counter this time. It was the Clinique® Bonus Buy time (free gift with a purchase of $19.50 USD or more), so I bought this, got my 'free' gift, and left the mall with an overwhelming sense of accomplishment.
When I got home and opened my cute little Clinique® bag, I rushed to the bath to try my new stuff out. (I always feel like a kid on Christmas when I get something new.) I had a date ...

Advantages: This is a decent product that smells nice and is easy to use, longlasting anfd leaves your skin feeling fresh and smooth and soft. Disadvantages: It is not perfumed as with all clinique products so does not interfere with your perfume but also does not really have a distinctive smell.
...its brand this is another clinique product which is very lovely, luxurious, easy to use, not sticky or smelly but fragrant and refreshing. It left my skin feeling soft and smooth as glowing which was good!
It does not leave any residue on the skin after use and allows moisturiser to absorb well into the skin. It is rather espensive but if you are clever with your purchases from clinique they often do a bonus time promotion where if you buy two products ... ...as it allows you to try some new products and perfume as well as normally getting a make up bag, brushes, lipstick or other mini product. Advantages: Beautiful real looking tan. Good value for money. Won't give you skin cancer! Disadvantages: A little tricky to apply the first few times.
have actually have people ask me if I've been abroad. When I told them it was a fake tan they were quite surprised - so it really does look like a genuine tan, not a cheap nasty orange glow!
*The products I use for preparation:
Exfoliator) Clinique's 'sparkleskin' BodyExfoliator (Boots) £16.50 a tub - 250ml
or Origins Cocoa Therapy Scrub @ £20 for 250ml
or Origins Paradise Found scrub @ £20 for 250ml
Moisturiser) Palmer's Cocoa Butter £3.99 for 400ml ASDA
Palmer's Moisturizing Body Oil (Boots) £4.50 for 250ml bottle
CONCLUSION
I think the method takes a little bit of perfecting as I messed it up a little the first time. I was so eager to get it on that I didn't even exfoliate and had darker elbows and knees (and any area where my skin was drier). I also had brown palms because although I had washed my hands straight ...
