I'm a student at Birmingham university, which is heaps of fun! I'm into all sorts of music, I like going to the theatre, cinema, or clubbing with my friends. I love travelling (just finished backpacking in Costa Rica) & I hope to travel more soon.

I've been using Clinique superbalanced in Alabaster for about a year and have found it to be a pretty good foundation. It covers up imperfections and provides medium coverage. It is quite expensive, but I find I'm really paying for a foundation which is pale and doesnt leave me looking ill. Its not too yellow based and with a bit of bronzer or blusher, I can almost pass as someone who has a pulse!!
Clinique was set up in 1968 as an off shoot of the Estee Lauder brand. Its more focussed on "individual skin care needs" instead of a one type suits all approach. Generally, Clinique is more suited to younger skin and Estee to the more mature market, although recently there has been a lot of blurring of these boundaries and I find stuff in Estee Lauder that I'd have originally looked for in Clinique.
One thing I have noticed is that you can't be sure how 'thick' the foundation is going to be. Sometimes I get a foundation which will freely run out of the bottle into the palm of my hand, sometimes it needs whacking and shaking to get it out. It also really doesn't like variations in heat. Cold temperatures turn it kind of 'jelly like' and in the heat it seems to melt in the bottle.
I also take issue with the bottle itself. I know it seems pedantic, but my skin sometimes flares up and I could do without transferring bacteria around all over the place, which is what you have to do as its a matter of tipping out the amount of foundation you need. I really wish the bottle had a pump action (like Estee Lauder's Futurist foundation).
Cliniqe makeup is available in all the big department store's (John Lewis, House of Fraser, Debenhams, etc) but I find you get the best deal buying in Boots where advantage card points and special offers can save you a fair bit of money. A bottle of Superbalanced foundation will set you back £17.50 and I'd estimate it will last about 1-2 months with every day use.
Overall, its a pretty good foundation. I'm not sure I'll stick with it forever, as I'd prefer something that has a bit more of a 'glow' to it.

Good review, but a bit more information may be helpful for potential buyers - such as the price and where this is available (perhaps even when Clinique was set up and why). If you make any edits then let me know and I'll re rate :) M x
Advantages: Can easily be removed.... hydrates and balances the skin Disadvantages: Bottle is small... we want a little more of this good stuff in the same price range.
