Dare I say it... Is it... working?!

I often find that the winter tends to play havoc with my complexion, leaving it very dry and irritated. At the start of this year I was finding that my regular moisturiser wasn't working as well anymore and I realised I needed something a bit stronger. I did some research online into super strength moisturisers and this was one that seemed to come highly recommended.

Clinique bill this as "skin's most complete defense against the visible signs of aging in a daily moisturiser" and claim that it "fights the effects of emotional stress, which can damage skin with effects much like sun and pollution. Helps neutralize UVA and UVB." I do like my moisturisers to contain a high SPF and at SPF 25 this was the main attraction of this moisturiser for me.

It comes in 3 different varieties - Very Dry to Dry, Dry Combination, and Combination Oily to Oily skin types. Due to the dryness I was having, I went for the Dry Combination option.

The product comes in a swish looking circular green glass pot, with green metallic screw on lid - so far so good. It does look very classy and feels nice and heavy. It comes in 2 sizes - 30ml and 50ml - the 30ml is £24 and the 50ml is £32 - certainly not cheap, so what exactly are you getting for your money?

The consistency is really thick, very creamy and feels silky on your fingers and it smoothes onto the face and is absorbed very easily and quickly - just a minute and the cream has been completely absorbed into the skin. It should be used in the morning and evening after cleansing, and can be used as part of the Clinique 3 step routine or on its own. It does provide a good base for make-up and does seem to stop my make-up being absorbed into the skin. There is a very slight scent to the product slightly camomile ish and ever so slightly clinical - like all Clinique products there are no artificial fragrances added.

However, I am going to have to go against the grain here and say that I just don't see the "triple moisturising" effect that this claims to achieve - it certainly does moisturise, I'm not disputing that, but I don't see that it does a better job than the far cheaper Oil of Olay Total Effects I was using before. I've been using this now for about 7 months so have given it a good try, but I just don't see the effects to warrant shelling out on this again. Having been disappointed by Clinique's moisturisers before (Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion - made me break out in spots, so in that sense, yes, I suppose it was dramatically different!) I think I'll be off to Origins for my next moisturiser purchase...

Clinique products can be bought at Boots, John Lewis, House of Fraser, or online at Clinique's website www.clinique.co.uk

Oh no I'm getting the dramatically different moisturiser for christmas. Uh oh lol. I hope I have better luck with you. I've never use Olay but if Clinique doesn't work I'm going with No7. Great review :) x

Clinique products are good, but yes, I find that my trusty Olay products do just as good a job!
