Earlier this year I spent six weeks in hospital and since then I have looked shocking, so I thought it was probably time to start looking after myself. So yesterday I hit the shops with £50 (just don't tell my partner!) to spend on make up.
I knew just where to head first - the Clinique counter in Boots. My main aim was to get a new foundation which covers my dull complexion and lasts all day. I headed towards the range to be greeted by a fresh faced lady offering assistance. Her skin looked great so I immediately had great faith in her! I told her what I was looking for and she recommended the superfit range for me as my skin is dry but greasy in places. Before she did this she took the time to explain the three other foundations available at the counter so I was satisfied that I had made the right choice. I was really pleased with the service as I went there feeling a bit frumpy and usually I feel these make up consultants look down on us mere mortals!
After choosing the range I wanted, the lady washed her hands and tested three different colours on the back of my hand to get an idea of the closest match she then narrowed it down to two and tried these on a patch of my face. We both checked it in the mirror and as I was happy, I headed for the till with shade number three; petal. I was pleasantly surprised when the bill only came to £17. Which although quite expensive for a foundation, I felt it was worth every penny to have such an enjoyable experience and a good product. The shade range is good as I have very pale skin and I was a three so there are paler shades out there.
The packaging reminds me of a shower curatin we had in our house from the seventies! (not good!) and this did put me off a bit. The outer box is pale pink with flowers on it, with a large mettalic 'C' on the front. Its not bad but it certainly wouldn't draw me to the product, still i threw the box out. The bottle is plastic and squeezable which is good since the foundation comes out of a nozzle and I expect the last drops are hard to extract. The lid is silvery and expensive looking (it matches my bathroom nicely, silver, not expensive!)
I tried the foundation out for myself all day yesterday. Application was easy - you just pour a little on to the back of your hand and dab onto the face making sure it is well blended. The liqiud is very runny so you have to watch it doesn't dribble onto you. However this is a good thing as the foundation feels really light, and as if you have nothing on (ooh-er!). I followed this with a dusting of powder and was still pleased with the results late last night. I found removal easy with clinique clarifying lotion.
I still had to use a concealer on my forehead as it is quite red and pimply at the moment (time of the month!) but I wasn't too bothered about that since if the foundation was any thicker it may feel too heavy. I was also pleased to note I had no cracks appearing in my smile lines (note; choice of words, not wrinkles!!).
The range is 100% fragrance free, and allergy tested (i have had no reactions). The box also tells us it is oil free, has moderate cover and a natural matte finish.
As i said before the price is not great but I was happy to pay it. I got 30ml for £17 (1 fl.oz). I also see quite a few offers on for example if you buy two products you get a bag of goodies etc. Unfortunatly no offers are currently running in our store.
If you fancy treating yourself this product is lovely. Put it on your list for Santa!
Advantages: long lasting, excellent for sensitive skin, good overall coverage Disadvantages: a bit expensive
...Makeup.
I've been using Clinique for over 20 years now, and I have always been very pleased with their products. When I first started to wear foundation and had very oily skin, there water-based one was the first I ever used.
Now that my skin is a bit dryer and needs better coverage, I use their Superfit Makeup, which has been on the market for a number of years now. I have to use the "Shell" shade, as my skin is very fair.
Clinique Superfit Makeup ... ...My dermatologist actually suggested Clinique to me about 10 years ago.
Superfit foundations provides long-lasting, outstanding coverage. It lasts from morning until bathtime at night (approximately 9 PM). Although it sells for $19.50 for a 30-ml bottle, I find that this is a reasonable price. A little Clinique foundation goes a long way and does last throughout the day. So, by 3 PM, I don't look like I never applied any foundation. With my very ...

Advantages: Long lasting, good coverage, non-oily Disadvantages: More expensive than I'm used to.
...I notice, OH JOY! The Clinique Counter has an offer. 800 extra reward points with every 3 products purchase!
That sold it to me! I spoke to the Clinique lady and told her I'd been recommended SUPERFIT by makeup artists on a make up advice message board. I said I wasn't sure what colour I would need. She did me a colour match & recommended a powder and concealer. I told her about the wedding and she suggested I go back for a makeover. I think I will! ... ...blemishes and since using the Clinique 3 step skincare system, I haven't even had a zit so I wouldn't be able to tell you about covering those!
I used a bit of airbrush concealer to hide the bags under my eyes and finished with superpowder, then my eye makeup and I was ready to go! I've now worn the makeup for a good couple of weeks, for work and for nights out. I can definitely say it lasts ages and withstands a night of dancing! However, it was ...

...& dark skins. The Clinique counter ladies are on hand to try it on your skin for you and if you aren't sure just ask for a sample, they were fine when I asked.
I apply mine with my fingers, they used a sponge and I know the new thing is a brush which Clinique sell for £20, but whichever method you use I'd say a little really does go a long way.
I use a Clinique makeup remover then a soap bar and it comes off easily, but doesn't wear off or transfer ...

Advantages: Stays on well, good choice of colour, well known brand Disadvantages: None
I have always been a clinique user and normally use their Superbalanced foundation but when I was getting married in the Dominican Republic I wanted to take a foundation which would stand the hot humid climate for my big day. My friend had used the Superfit foundation before and recommended it to me. I asked for a makeover at the Clinique counter in Boots and asked if they would try the Superfit foundation on me. I must admit I was surprised at how ... ...always find that certain parts of my face seem as tho' the foundation has not been rubbed in properly but this foundation went on lovely. It costs £17 for 30ml and comes in 11 shades; Honey, Healthy, Golden, Neutral, Petal, Spicy, Bare, Almond, Cream, Beige & Cinnamon. I myself, use Natural and it does blend very well. It definitely stood the test of time on my wedding day. It was absolutely boiling and very humid, and the foundation did not need ...

I was looking for a foundation that would provide me with good coverage and add a bit of colour to my face as I always seem to have a pale complexion.
I went to the Clinque counter as thats where i buy my other skin care products, the lady there applied this foundation all over my face and instantly my skin looked brighter and fresher. I now use this everyday and absouluty love it. It provides just enough coverage but not so much that you can see ...
