In the past whenever I have approached one of the ladies behind a makeup counter for help on finding a foundation to suit my skin, I have always walked away not pleased. These ladies have come across as being very helpful & they do try their best but they have always tried colours on my skin that were a few shades too dark unfortunately. This might have been down to the fact that I have an uneven skin tone & in order for them to try to even out my skin colour, they always happened to pick out the darkest colour on my face and go with that particular shade. On the odd occasion when I have been shown a shade that I didn't particularly mind, I felt like my face had far too many layers on it, the foundation was too thick for my liking, I looked overdone, and it neither felt nor looked natural.
One day as a final try before I gave up on trying to find a suitable foundation entirely, I decided to give the clinique counter a try. Unlike all the previous times, where I was sat down and colours where applied on me while a felt like a guinea pig, the lady sat me down & asked me a few questions to determine my skin type, and then asked me what I was looking for in a foundation, and what look I wanted to achieve, which I had never been asked before. One of the first things she said to me was: "I notice you have an uneven skin tone. Since the area under you eyes happens to be the darkest colouring on your face, rather than just go for that shade, I am going to try a few shades in between, so that the darker shades will lighten, and your lighter areas will darken and meet in the middle. This way the overall look will be of one skin shade without it looking false." This was like music to my ears but I was still apprehensive and had my doubts but regardless of this I let her get on with her job. When the lady had finished and shown me a mirror, I can't describe how pleased I was with the result. The foundation was neither not too dark for my face nor too light, it looked just right, like it was made for me. Finally I had what I had spent ages looking for, a natural look, as well it didn't look shiny like some foundations can.
That was about 5 years ago I think, and I've stuck with the same foundation ever since, I get so many compliments from others, my most favourite is the look on people's face when I tell them that I actually am wearing foundation, when they think my face is bare of any sort of makeup.
The foundation blends so easily, it hardly takes anytime at all too put on. You can put the foundation on early in the morning and it will still be there in the evening, even in all kinds of weather, it really is long lasting, and that's what it states on the packaging too, 'stays smooth all day, come stress or high humidity'. Another good thing about this foundation is that, its transfer proof, no matter how often I touch my face, it doesn't rub off onto my hands, like the mousse style foundations do. Also you only need a little bit to cover your whole face, you can layer it if you wish too, and it still won't look too heavy, so it last you for a long time, about 3 months in my experience.
The only downside I can find is the price at £17.50 for 30ml, but you can always find it cheaper online than in the shops, but it's worth every penny you pay and it does last a long time as you only need a small amount each time you use it

Sounds like good stuff although I'm quite happy with the No7 one that I discovered a year or so ago. Mil x

yep, that sounds like a clinique consultation to me! my mum always said that clinique offer the best skincare/makeup options, because she went through the experimenting with all the brands...in the end clinique won her vote, and i have to say my skins also benefited!
