I have tried all 8 shades of this, and I must say, there are definitely some that I like more than others. There are staples, then there are two that I won't use again unless I'm hooking on 8th and Main. Not to worry, I'll give you the 411 as usual.

Almond Eyes. This is a serious problem for me. Anytime I wear eyeshadow, I get a crease of shadow on my lids... and any time I look down or close my eyes, I have these two little stripes of shadow on my lids. Not cute, especially if you're trying to flirt.
In any case, I had tried everything from spraying my face with super-hold hairspray to powdering my foundation on my lids before I put the shadow on. Nothing worked. Not until Clinique Touch Base.

The packaging is an attractive little 1 3/4" x 1 3/4" squovular (square with rounded edges) hinged compact. On the inside lid of this case is a tiny circular mirror (not really useful at all, but nice all the same) and the product sits in a little circular well.
There are 8 shades of this product: Canvas, Up-Lighting, Eye Light, Buff-Lighting, Petal Shimmer, Nude Rose, Moon Lighting and Silver Lighting.
Canvas: Canvas is my staple. I can use it all seasons, all times of day, all occasions. It is rather matte (some of these are shimmery) and holds perfectly. This shade is in the Nude category and holds true to its name. This goes extremely well during the middle of the day and for Summer.
Up-Lighting: Up-Lighting is also in the Nudes category, but adds a little shimmer. I particularly like this for Summer and Fall and in the evening. I especially like this for evening/ dinner as I don't really wear any shadow over it.
Eye Light: This is one of the two shades in the tawny category. I love this colour because it seems as though it opens yours eyes. It isn't extremely shimmery, but has enough. It's a not great deal lighter than the other tawny shade but it is light enough to wear in the Winter, Spring and late Fall.
Buff Lighting: Now, this is a perfect Summer shade. It's a little darker and a lot more shimmery than Eye Light. I prefer to wear this with a little shadow. It tones the shimmer a little and I think it works better that way. Note: Buff Lighting seemed to dry out a little more quickly than the other shades. I'm not sure if it was the packaging or the chemical makeup.
Petal Shimmer: This is almost too pinky for me. Perhaps it is because this is the Pinks category (duh). I'm sure it may work for someone with a little more blue in their skin, but I doesn't work well with my tone.
Nude Rose: I had a problem with this Touch Base. It was too dark. I don't like pink on my lids, it makes me look like I've either been crying or my allergies are acting up. This would more than likely work very well with someone with darker skin.
Moon Lighting: I love this shade for night wear. This shade is in the Violet category. I don't usually like the Violets, but this one seems to work very well. Extremely shimmery and nice, nice, nice.
Silver Lighting: EW. I detest this colour. It is too dark to be subtle and too shimmery to be pretty. I don't know how to fix this colour, but I know that this is one of the only Clinique products I have ever thrown away.
From Clinique.com: No smear, no fade, no creasing. Stays on until washed off. Also works as holding base for other eye makeup.
Application: Use ring finger to apply colour from lash line to brow, blend gently. Can be worn alone or under other eye shadows. Remove with eye makeup solvent. Note: Always close compact completely to prevent product from drying out.
Advantages: Stops eyeshadow falling into creases, reasonable price Disadvantages: none
...it was recommended by the clinique sales assistant when having a practice wedding makeover. As I was getting married abroad I wanted anything and everything that would prevent my makeup from disappearing in the soaring heat of the Caribbean on my wedding day.
The sales assistant applied the touchbase before the eyeshadow and at first I didn't actually know that she'd applied it as it was very light to wear and I thought it was one of the eyeshadows.
... ...with a couple of other clinique purchases I decided to test this eye base out by seeing how long the eyeshadow lasted in good condition.
To cut a long story short it lasted all day in immaculate condition, so I went back and bought it. It comes in a little compact complete with mirror in the usual green clinque colour. It is a creamy shadow that won't smear, fade, or crease. It can be used alone or as a base. I apply it with my fingers and it is ...

Advantages: Nice natural colour with subtle shimmer Disadvantages: Doesn't work as a base. Not great as a cream shadow, especially considering the price.
I am a clinique fan and usually a bit biased into liking their products! However, I have to say I was really disappointed with this product, especially after reading such good reviews for it. I purchased the item in March 2009 and at that point only one shade was available - Canvas. This is a nice neutral colour; a pale skin tone with a silvery shimmer. My main requirement for the product was mainly as a base as I found my powder eye shadows weren't ... ...my eye lid. But as the colour was nice on its own I was hoping it would also double up as a cream eye shadow. Initally I found the product fairly easy to apply, although it was easy for it to become cakey in places with the wrong stroke. I found tapping it onto the skin was best for getting an even finish. Unfortunately it didn't seem to have any effect on making my eye shadows last, and whether Touch Base was used on its own or as a base for powder ...

...an eye base made by clinique that has a kind of foundation colour which is basically what it is- a foundation. If i'm just roaming around the house you can put it on by itself just to cover up the veins on your eyes.
I tend to wear quite bright colour eyeshadows and was always finding it a hassle to carry my eye shadows around with me and reapply it at lunchtime to keep it from fading or 'falling off' my eyes. This is no longer a problem for me! ... ...with any colour, bright as i like, and it will still be there at 3 the following morning if I want it to be.
I've become a bit of a spokesperson for this, bought it for a number of my friends and my mum and they all agree it is amazing. It can easily be applied using your finger and just spread over your eye- no fancy tools needed.
It retails at about 10 pounds but you hardly have to put any on and I, who wears eyeshadow EVERY day, need a new one ...

...packaging is sophisticated, like all Clinique products. The pale green compact is tiny and easy enough to slip in your makeup bag. There is also a mirror inside the compact which is very useful. The base has no fragrance too it and is dermatologically tested. Because I got this product free I do not know the price but I am guessing that it will be between £8 to £10. ...

with the applicator sponges. So, if you'd like to give a try at the brush application, just apply the shades exactly as you would with the sponge, just note how much easier they apply with the brushes. I recommend this for everyone, just be sure to choose your shades carefully (as described below). I've found that if you apply Clinique® TouchBase for Eyes, it lasts 3xs as long. Without, it stays on pretty well as long as you're not rubbing your eyes. Now, as always, Clinique® stands by it's promise that this product is 100% Allergy tested. YAY!

with this and still keep that slack makeup look. Nice.
Moss: Whoa. If there was ever a green eyeliner, this is it. This is a very deep green, almost hunter green. I don't wear this often, only when I'm feeling exceptionally buggered.
New Black: 'New Black' isn't really black. In fact, it's really more of a dark grey. I like wearing this liner with my deep grey pinstripe suit and a black shell. I suppose if you like a really deep grey/black liner, you'd enjoy this on a regular basis.
Slate: 'Slate' is the epitome of grey. This is a cool, blue-grey that REALLY brings out the copper in one's eyes. I like this liner for one reason, smudgy night eyes. This is perfect over Clinique's Touch-Base for eyes. I put on my touch-base, then smudge this into my lower lid THEN apply New Black as my liner. Perfect for a night on the town in winter ...
