I am currently one of those fashion victims following the trend for straight, shiny, frizz free glossy locks!!
I have invested in the ghd straighteners which are a complete god send as many of you will know!!
I have discovered that you achieve a better results with the help of a straightening product!
I have tried all different brands of straightening lotions and potions. They all seemed ok and I suppose they did the job but I wasn’t overly impressed with any one in particular. Well not enough to make that second purchase! Well that was until last Christmas...........
As a big clinique fan (i sound like a stuck record eh!!) my friend thought that an ideal present for me would be Clinique "Perfectly Straight" straightening balm. Being such a cool friend she bought me shampoo and conditioner too!! I guess she must like me!!
The cost of the straightening balm is £10.00 for 200ml.
*The packaging*
This comes in a white rounded bottle with a flip top. You can also unscrew the top if you require and pour the lotion out but i could not understand why you would want to do that........unless transporting this into a smaller bottle perhaps for your holidays!! God what an excellent idea of mine!! I have mighty impressed myself!
The famous Clinuque logo – a capital C - is on the lid at the front and is in big green 3D writing. On the actual bottle “CLINIQUE hair care” is written on the front also sporting a green colour – but is written side ways! In smaller letters also in green you are advised that this is a “straightening balm for fine/medium hair”.
*The Lotion*
The lotion is an off-clear colour and fairly runny so you have to be careful not to use too much at once! Clinique claim that this is fragrance free but I reckon it does have a slight smell. It’s not a horrible smell. It smells kind of fresh and mildly perfumed. This is also Allergy Tested.
*How to Use*
I apply this to towel dried hair and pour about a fifty pence piece size onto my palm and rub it with my other palm and massage into my hair. I don’t apply this lotion to the roots of my hair mainly because I have found in the past with other products this can make your hair greasy too quickly so as a rule of thumb never apply anything to the roots!. I tend to just apply from mid length to the ends.
I then blow-dry my hair as normal ready for getting to work with my straighteners. After blow drying I feel that my hair is a lot sleeker and smoother after using this product than none at all. I have found with other products that they can leave a coating on your hair. I have found with this balm though that you are not left with that feeling. This lotion does not make your hair greasy quickly as some products do. I wash my hair every second day as normal.
*My verdict*
My hair is naturally straight-ish! but I have the odd kink and curl that is uncontrollable and I feel that I need a product like this to tame it a little, rather than blasting it with straighteners.
The only thing i could possibly criticise about this is that the bottle is white. It would be great if it was like their shampoos and conditioners and was in clear bottles. You would then know exactly how much you had left!!! You can sort of guess when you are getting near the end as the bottle feels really light. I tend to find that a bottle lasts me about 5/6 months. That is based on me washing my hair about 4 times a week.
One other thing I have to point out is that if you use very hot straightening irons like me once your hair is dry and have applied a little heat spray - these just glide through your hair due to the fact your hair is now so sleek.
I have rated this with 4 stars as it is a bit expensive compared to other products on the market.

Extra Body Volumizing Spray
Review of Clinique by
writerfree
Advantages: rescues flat hair, smells nice
Disadvantages: expensive
...i.e. Pantene, John Frieda etc. Clinique is for face-care and makeup, not hair. However, a friend of mine really recommended this product, and as my hair tends to go flat at the top and frizzaliciously big at the bottom, I decided to try it.
Extra Body Volumizing Spray comes in a nice cylinder tube, making it easy to store/pack should you need to. It has the traditional Clinique logo on the front.
The top comes off quite easily, and as the spray ... ...but also feel less guilty about the environment. You can use it on wet or dry hair, so what I tend to do is spray it on my roots when they’re wet, and, when I’ve blow-dried, spritz a little bit more on again. Unlike lots of other volumizing sprays, this doesn’t make your hair go stiff and yukky. If you spray it on dry hair, it can feel a little bit crisp, but that will go if you just run your fingers through it. Most importantly, ...

Hair we go!
Review of Clinique by
Liney_1973
Advantages: Does what it says on the tin! Smells fab
Disadvantages: Not as easy on the pocket as other brands
If you love Clinique make up and skincare, you'll probably love the Clinique Hair Care range. I have long, straight blonde hair. Prone to being on the dry side and it just loves a bit of frizz in the humidity (that's my idea of a bad hair day). I am always up for trying new products as I tend to get bored quickly. In my local department store the other day I noticed that Clinique have a Hair Care range, I think it launched a while ago but I hadn't ... ...is £8 from your local Clinique counter. More expensive than your everyday shampoo but I like a little luxury now and again.
It smells quite lemony to me although I believe it is meant to be lavender.
Now how did I get on with this shampoo? Well I wash my hair every day and found it suitable for frequent use; it didn't make my hair go frizzy at all. It lathered nicely and my hair didn't feel matted together when I was rinsing it off as some shampoos ...

Shampoo and Conditioner for dry hair types
Review of Clinique by
free4susan
Advantages: Clean smelling, leaves hair smooth and healthy
Disadvantages: pricier than drugstore brands
...of good reviews of the Clinique haircare range I purchased the shampoo and conditioner for dry hair. I have colour treated hair, it's quite curly and has a tendency to be frizzy so I have a number of requirements from my haircare products! These 2 products have a nice clean smell, nothing overpowering. They both feel nice massaging into the hair, the conditioner in particular feels wonderfully smooth. Combing my hair afterwards is not the ordeal ...
