As some of you have come to realise, I am a bit of a label tart. If something is new, and comes in expensive packaging, and is recommended by a magazine, I'm hotfooting it to the shops to get my grubby little mitts on it. This has resulted in me using various brands for different things, as I can never afford to buy a whole range at once.
However, all this has changed. A couple of months ago, I was mooching round the beauty section of my local Debenhams, and I saw a fantastic offer at the Clinique counter. I was able to purchase all three products making up the Three Step Cleansing System for the price of one. The catch was that two of the sizes were smaller than the ones you would normally buy, but bear with me, as there is a twist in this tale.
Any Clinique counter assistant will be able to give you a consultation which will tell you what strength products you need. This is based on skin tone, eye colour, amount of wrinkles, texture and spottiness. I'm a type two. There are four differnt combinations of soap and clarifying lotion, but the moisturiser is the same for everybody. I cannot recommend this consultation highly enough as it avoids you making a costly mistake. If you don't want to discuss your skin in a shop, take the test online at the Clinique website.
The system is very simple. Basically, you wash your face with the special soap, tone with the special exfoliating toner, and moisturise with the Dramatically Different moisturiser. This needs to be done twice daily, and I have to say that it doesn't take as long as you might think. It probably takes me about a minute longer than using my old facial wipes.
The sizes I got were not the usual sizes, as I have mentioned. I got a small soap (50g) - which has not shrunk dramatically after over eight weeks of solid use. It also comes with a fatastic little case to keep it safely away from your boyfriend, who might otherwise use it in the shower. Men think that a bar of soap is exactly that in my experience. I estimate this will last for at least another two months, so if you compare the price with a normal cleanser, the value just about evens out as a standard bar of soap costs £8.50
The Clarifying lotion came in a 60ml bottle, and this lasted for six weeks before I had to shell out for some more. A 200ml bottle cost me £13.50 at Boots, and this will last for about three months.
The moisturizer came in a 75ml squeezy tube. Anybody familiar with these products will know that the standard retail product is a 50ml glass bottle, which is notorious for being difficult to extract the product from. The normal retail price is £14 for 50ml, so not only did I get 50% extra "free", but the other two products as well.
To sum up, my skin has never looked more fantastic. It is smooth, and almost blemish free, which I haven't experienced for nearly fifteen years. What a result!! These are products you can really feel working, and I cannot speak highly enough of my experience. So, go for your consultation, and try out the free samples next time you see them.

I'm a huge Clinique fan too. I have to say, I don't usually bother with the 3-step routine as I'm rather lazy but their makeup and anti-blemish treatments are just wonderful! x
