I came across Clinique Liquid facial soap quite unintentionally. I had popped down to my local department store as I had run out of my favourite foundation. When purchasing the sales assistant informed me that it was Clinique bonus time. (By buying two or more Clinique products I would be entitled to a free Clinique gift bag) Never one to pass on a special offer of the shopping variety I had a browse round the Clinique concession and found there was nothing I particularly wanted or needed. Being in a bit of a rush with the car park ticket ready to expire I grabbed at pretty much the fist thing I could find, This happened to be Clinique Liquid facial soap...
Clinique liquid facial soap forms part of the famous Clinique 3 step skin care system. The dermatologists at Clinique believe it is essential that everyone Cleanses, Tones and Moisturises. Liquid facial soap is part one the cleanser, Part two is the toner and part three the moisturiser. I'm not the most disciplined of people so tend to just stick to the Cleanse and Moisturise steps.
There are three different types of Clinique facial soap, extra mild, mild and Oily. Extra mild should be used on very dry skin. Mild or normal to dry skin and Oily, for of course oily skin. The product I am reviewing is the mild liquid soap. The soap comes in a 200ml sturdy plastic bottle which is a perspex green colour with the clinique logo across the front. It has a pump dispenser which dispenses a 2 pence sized amount with each Pump. The soap is completely fragrance free and colour free and looks like clear gel. It is also allergy tested.
The instructions state to use twice daily with tepid water, lather soap between palms. Massage lather over face and throat. Rinse off. Pat skin dry. Clinique's dermatologists claim that the non-drying bar and new liquid formula will remove facial dirt and oil. Work to loosen surface flakes.
I have been using the soap now for four months and can say that it definitely lives up to its claims...
The liquid facial soap works really well because unlike most other soaps it doesn't dry you skin out and make it feel taught. After using and drying with a towel my skin feels really smooth and clean and like its been cleansed really well. Prior to using this I was prone to getting the odd spot and would suffer with patches of dry skin, Since using twice daily I rarely have any breakouts and my skin is rarely dry. In the past I have found myself allergic to many cleansers that I have tried Clinique seems to suit my skin great and it is also allergy tested so I should imagine most people would be able to use it. The fact that the soap contains no fragrance means its perfect for Men as well as women. (My younger brother is now quite a fan!) As the soap is in liquid form and dispensed from the pump it is really easy to use in the shower which saves me a lot of time and hassle.
The only slight disadvantage is the price, The Liquid soap costs £13 per 200ml so is not cheap. However when I think back to all the money I wasted trying other products the price doesn't look too bad and as I mentioned earlier I have been using for four months and I am still on the same bottle with around a quarter left so on the whole the soap does not work out too expensive.
Overall though I would recommend anyone looking for a facial cleanser to give this a try. Available online at: clinique.co.uk or from major department stores and Chemists nationwide.
Thanks for reading,
Victoria
