...Inca Gold was the first Clive Cussler novel I read. Since then I have read four others. In Inca Gold, Dirk Pitt, our hero, battles onces more against the powers of evil, with the treasure in his sights throughout. The action is frantic, and this is definitley a book you cannot put down, with unexpected plot twists in every chapter. Dirk Pitt's dry whit is a joy to read.
The uniwue thing about Cussler is his "walk-on" part in his books. Read it and you will understand !
If you like Indiana Jones, you'll like Dirk Pitt !...

Advantages: A total imersion experience. Disadvantages: None- apart from the fact you may have something sensible to do.
...I was given this book some years ago while working in security (looking after a merchant bank based in an old house previously belonging to Nelson.) While reading it the atomosphere of the book seemed to permiate the building in the strangest way imaginable. During the night the world of Clive Barker became more real than the world we live in now.
What was it that made it so gripping? The realism of the story? The people? Hardly. Weaveworld is a bizarre tale that is only credible within its own terms of reference.
I think it is sincerity that makes a good fantasy writer. You need this to create a world that is believeable despite being fantastic. If the author believes it then so will you. It is dreadfully easy to write bad fantasy- this only makes me respect Clive Barker more....

Advantages: Action packed, gripping and memorable Disadvantages: Not as ong as some of the later books
...Iceberg - by Clive Cussler
Third in the Dirk Pitt advernture series, this book starts some time after The Meditteranean Caper leaves off, with many some of the characters from that book being rolled over to this one. The adventure is mainly centered around Iceland, however it begins and ends in or near the United States. Action is about the same as the second book, and there is some close character death as well. As always for Clive Cussler, the description and mental imagery are brilliant - you really will be able to visuallise what's going on in your mind as you read. Book length is slightly longer than the previous book - I finished the electronic version in just over 5 hours non-stop.
Another must-have addition to your library or travel literature collection.
My Opinion: Excellent...
