Yesterday was one of those days where I needed comfort, so I popped to my local shop and browsed the trashy magazine section and picked out CLOSER magazine. I'm not sure why but reading trashy... more

Advantages Advantages Celebs , Interesting , Good Features, Good value for £££

Disadvantages Disadvantages Very focused on celeb Bodies

I'm magazine mad me! If I had the money I would probably subscribe to many magazines ; Now , Star , New , Reveal , Ok , Hello! , Bliss , Sugar…you name it I read it! I love a bit of Celebrity gossip! I think like most people , I'm slightly obsessed about celebrities! I just love knowing everything about them such as what they've been up to , where they go on holiday , who they're dating , how much money they make! This is why magazines are a useful source for me as they provide me with all the information I need. One magazine I never really buy that often is Close Magazine. I remember buying ... more

Advantages Advantages entertaining, loads of celeb gossip, tips, good size, cheap

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Er...

I must admit, with the plans to study Journalism in a few short years' time, I really do not read enough magazines; I've always been more of a book-person. However I decided to up this last week and bought a few magazines. Of course, I wasn't going to pay for something I wouldn't enjoy reading, so I scanned the shelves for something that would be of interest to me. That is when that week's issue of Closer, dated 29 November - 5 December, leapt out at me, with three of the five articles shown on the front appealing to me. I think it is clear to say that this is quite a girlie magazine - the ... more

Advantages Advantages cheap, easy to read includes TV Guide

Disadvantages Disadvantages not to everyones taste, boring celeb news

I have been buying closer for between six months and a year, and it has now become one of my favourites. The type of magazines I usually buy are the monthly fashion magazines, like Company, B, and Glamour. I have always found the weekly and fortnightly, more celebrity orientated magazines quite boring. They all tend to contain the same dull, predictable rubbish - such and such of the telly has a cocaine habbit, some obscure reality TV stars dog died, someone in a girlband is sleeping with someone from a boyband etc etc. Although the initial pages of closer are filled with such mindless rubbish ... more

Advantages Advantages Its cheep and cheerful

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can take the micheal out of some celebs

Well I am a chocoholic, dieterholic reject and above all a book and magazine wormer holic. I must buy around 6 to 7 mags at least per month and plus I get the odd hand me down mags. The amount I spend is probably verging on the ridiculous. Along with the many books I buy my budget is way over what it should be. I don’t get out that much, I don’t smoke and once the sprogs are asleep what is the best way to unwind? Reading is my answer, though some would say something far more energetic. I’m just too knackered for THAT so opt for a bit of reading. So why CLOSER Magazine I hear you ask? Well its ... more

Advantages Advantages Hardly any exceot some true lifes.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Nearly everything nowadays - it's gone worse than ever!

I've always loved reading magazines. My Mum always buys Chat, Take A Break and That's Life every week, so I have always read the 'women' magazines. But, when I grew out of Mizz and Sneak, Closer was one of the first older magazines that I started to buy. The first thing that attracted me was the price. £1. So, I thought I'd give it a try. I've been buying it now for about a year, and lately, I don't really know why! I am writing this review based on this week's issue. Issue151. Let's start off with the cover. It is always bright pink, which is annoying after you've bought it a few times. Try ... more
