The game is pretty basic, with good colouring throughout, but it has a nice style and the simplicity works well for the target age group. There is a certain amount of vagueness that potentially makes the game more difficult. If a player gets stuck there isn't a lot in the game that says what to do next. There is a lot of reading through speach bubbles between the penguins, though the reading level is very basic.
Adventure games rely heavily on the story and writing, and in Club Penguin the writing is actually pretty good. There's a lot of humor and charm with the characters of the Elite Penguin Force, and the story is very kid-friendly, but manages to be fairly action packed. The game very linear, but the over a dozen missions offer a fairly lengthy gaming experience.
During the adventure the player will participate in a number of minigames in which the player will obtain 2 different medals. There's a fishing game, a memorization dancing game, and a snowboarding game, among others. The touch screen games are fun enough in the context of the game, though by themselves they are particularly interesting. Players can return to any of the minigames at any point through the main screen, and since that's the way to earn coins for costumes. As the missions are completed the director will be pleased with your progress and award you a higher level within the Elite penguin force.
Club Penguin members from the Disney website can add the coins earned in the game to their account. this is done by uploading over the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection to the online game. (Which needs to be set up) It's a simple coin upload, but this is a really cool feature that. There's also multiplayer minigames, and even a multiplayer mission mode if players each have their own game card.
Closing Comments Club Penguin: Elite Penguin Force is a fun little adventure game for young players. It's clearly aimed at fans of the online game, but it's still pretty interesting for newcomers, even if they don?t know the characters. The game offers a decent amount of challenge, and is pretty lengthy. It isn't flashy by any means, but the style is charming. There really aren?t enough adventure games on the DS anyway, so at the very least this may serve as an entryway into other more challenging games in the genre.
My child played it and got stuck a few times but with a little exploration of the map and places the answers are there. You can only use 1 penguin name at a time when playing the game. however if you want to start again you can sign in as a guest, however the downside of this is that you automatically start from the beginning each time you turn the game on.
You train with the puffles and the majority of times my child got stuck it was a case of using the different puffles to help you out.
In my opinion its a must have for Club Penguin members
