Advantages:
Very easy to use. Clear and precise instructions on how to register, how to bid, and how to sell. Free to list items for selling. Automatic repost up to 4 times for sellers. Very easy and quick to upload photos. Once the photos are uploaded all other information for listing an item is on one screen, which makes it simple and quick to use. No paging through different screens to add prices and descriptions. Special features are free, such as highlighted or bold text, various colours available, reposting, category feature, background colour. Scroll down screen with different methods for bidders to pay, and a link to any URL that a seller may have. After posting all the information there is a preview screen where item can be listed or edited.

Disadvantages:
At present there are not many members so items are not selling as quickly as they may sell on other sites such as ebay. All the sellers are using all the special features as they free, so every item has bold text, highlights, an icon, and is featured in the gallery! Not sure how long Cocobay has been online, but it seems quite new in the UK at least. At present there are less than 300 items posted, which is surprising given the fact that items are free to list. There is a small charge when an item is sold.
I have listed on Cocobay for a few months, and twice have had to repost all the items. The first time was at the beginning of 2003, as I received an e-mail saying that Cocobay UK was closing down and all items would end on Jan 1. I then received another e-mail saying that it was once again up and running, so I reposted all the items. The second time I received an e-mail saying the site would be down for modification and all items would be ended. I again reposted, but this time all the features were free to use.

Summary:
At present I think anyone selling an item on auction should try out Cocobay as listing is free. The membership is low at the moment but it is very easy to use and with a bit more advertising they could be quite successful. Viewing an item is pretty straightforward, with clear details on price, seller, description, etc. I would certainly say to anyone using an auction site give it a go. My opinion is that there is potential here.
