CoPilot Live Pocket PC 6 UK & Ireland GPS software

Bought this software when i got my mobile phone- O2 Orbit, quite recently. This software is actually amazing!

The version for the Pocket PC is virtually exactly the same at the symbian based CoPilot live software for the Nokia Mobile phones.

Installation:
I received a mini SD memory card and a slightly bigger memory SD card adapter which could fit into any memory card reader. I inserted the memory card in and the installation begun to take place. There were little manual settings to be set. After the installation of the software was complete, I prompted to restart my phone once restarted I ran the software and I had to the enter the serial key which unlocked the software. That was it, I was now finished, and as my phone already had an inbuilt GPS receiver I had picked up a signal and was beginning to look at the maps.

Using the Software:
The software was so easy to use i even got my wife using it, Upon loading the software you would come to a screen and it had three/four buttons one of which said start driving, once clicked you have to type in the postcode or address, once you press go that’s it your off you need not worry about typing in where you are, the software would automatically find out where you are and calculate the best routes for you.

Maps and Assistance:
I was pleasantly surprised when i begun to use the software as to how useful it was, and how remarkably similar it was to other Sat Navs. I was warned about speed cameras along the way where to turn and how far I had to make my turning. One thing I thought that was completely amazing and very smart was that when i was warned about a speed camera a box would come up telling me exactly what the speed of the car was travelling at. Bearing in mind that this wasn’t attached to the car in anyway i was amazed. There a range of different view of maps that you view them in for example there’s Hawk eye- looking straight down, there is a 3D view which in my view was the best. You could zoom into the maps quite well. The only problem i had with the software was that at first when fully zoomed in the arrow was a little large and I took a few wrong turnings but i got to read the arrow better the more i used it. Upon start up there is an option for the maps to update themselves which is very helpful. A very important feature of the co-pilot is the live update feature that can be enabled, this means that if there has been an accident or roadworks then it will connect via GRPS and re-route you to the quickest way.

I would defiantly use this software if given the option of installing it onto your phone. You can use this software if you have an external GPS receiver.

Other Features:
You can add up to arround 50 stops along your journey. you can change your route midway through a journey. Displays the estimated time of arrival, it displays points of possible interest to the user. There is a guidance and planning modes so you can use it if you have a caravan or you are going on a leisurely walk with the family. On the pocket PC version you can enable the text to speech feature which tells you the name of the streed which you have just turne onto, this is acutlaly quite useful as it saves you from diverting your attention away from driving so that you can find the name of the street. If your on a welsh road dont expect it to be pronounced perfectly.

N95 Users:
Most people who have N95 have had to pay to try and unleash the fairly puny power of the MAPS software.
