Advantages: Smells nice, tastes good and you can help others Disadvantages: Not known very well.
I love my cup of tea , morning with my breakfast, evening with my biscuit, nothing can beat a nice cuppa! in my opinion, I think tea is very British , sign of elegance and sophistication while coffee is more American.
As a part of our custom I like my tea strong, the stronger...the better. The real taste of tea is slightly bitter , not colored boiling water!
Since 1995 , fair trade started, it was very unfamiliar and ... ...in the last 3 years, more ads on TV, more information on the Internet and live campaigns so people started to notice fair trade products. Fair trade tea was one of many products campaigned by many supermarkets like Sainsbury, Tesco, Asda and Coop. Ciao choice for this week was Coop fair trade organic tea.
Fair trade tea?
So..., fair for who? The consumer or the producer?

Since 1995 , fair trade started, it was very unfamiliar and people hardly knew about it. Fair trade tea?
So..., fair for who? The consumer or the producer?
First I would like to say why it's different.
********Introduction********
We all know that tea, coffee, beans, nuts and bananas mostly came from Africa, India , the far east and some countries in south America. most of these countries are developing countries and needs every penny to keep them going on and keep producing these products. So they invented the fair trade idea after all these years of unfairly treating farmers in payment and trading. Did you know that each farmer get paid around $1 per day? an equivalent of 50p that a 4 years old child here refused to take !
Working from dusk till dawn for that some of money and of course no insurance on work or produce.
Fair trade project aims for fair payment , guaranteed to be above the world payment, and long term contracts for the farmers so they keep producing safely and secure shipment for their products without the hassle of low payment and sometimes rejection.
When we buy a fair trade products we support the people in the third world, it's the least we can do to give them their fair payment of their hard work so they can have better life , education, health and clean water. Maybe we think it's only a packet of tea but every penny count and with buying fair trade products we increase jobs opportunities and more people will work bearing in mind that they now paid.
**********Organic**********
What is organic?
Organic products are products that has not been treated chemically or genetically modified product. simply it's products that has been grown naturally without human interference and that means all the nature goodness will be packed in, you will surely notice the difference.
**********Co op fair trade organic tea**********
******Packaging****
The package is in attractive eye catching dark green, obviously for organic with a picture of a hot cup of tea, the shape is like normal tea bags pack, on the left corner there is a fair trade logo and a sentence said" guaranteed a better deal for third world producers.
****The tea Bag*****
It's basic really , round white tea bag with dried tea leaves inside it. the only difference I can see is the tea leaves are not as dark as the others , it's lighter. there is a fair amount of tea leaves in each bag which is a bonus unlike some other brand like PG nearly empty!
******The smell*****
When i first Opened the packet, The smell of fresh tea was amazing, I can say It was strongly dominating the tea box, go and have a sniff of your tea bag, it smells like tobacco! unlike this one it's definitely tea.
I make my cup of tea as I always do, I like it darker and no milk, The moment I pour the hot water the smell was sensational , I can smell the real tea without that boxy smell!
****The color*****
I left the tea bag for five minutes to infuse , the color was more like dark red or maroon, or even like the sunset red. I used filtered water because I live in hard water area which can change the color and the taste of the tea. I loved the color very tempting as most teas are very dark nearly black.
********The taste********
I love my tea and i enjoy drinking it, trying so many brands and so many tastes, It is a little strong tasting and that's because they probably using only the tips of the tea leaves not the leaves and stalk like some cheap tea.
the best way to taste tea is without milk so you can drink it purely without any other flavouring disguising the original taste. After the tasting, I can confirm that the taste is quite good , not watery or tastes like herbs , it is tea, I can taste the real tea for the first time in my life. it might be different because it's organics but not sure what is the reason.
******The Price ******
The price is around £1.99 for a pack of 80, not too bad considering that we are paying our share to help the workers in the other side of the globe. It's not much but it can help.
****Verdict******
After all I can say this tea worth paying for ,I've been looking for the perfect tea for long time, sometime I brought it from my home country or asked friend to bought it for me from sri lanka India because most of super market tea are watery and tasteless.
so why not spending a little bit extra and pay those people who are working really hard . the normal pack of tea bags is around £1.49I-£1.79 so the difference no more than 50p nothing comparing to a trolley mostly filled with unnecessarily food!
it's fairly priced and it's organic so what are you waiting for?
I would recommend it, at least I can feel that there is some justice for hard working people
So what will you drink tomorrow? your usual or fair trade organic?
Advantages: You Are Supporting third World Countries Disadvantages: Some may find it too tart for their tastebuds..
...♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ Co-Op Fair Trade Organic Tea Bags ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ I have never tried Organic Teabags before so I was quite looking forward to actually tasting and reviewing my favourite hot drink in the Organic form. I went to the Teabag section in the Co-op, and searched high and low, but they were not to be found anywhere on these shelves. So I asked an assistant if they had any Organic Teabags in their store. He ... ...much a part of the co-op range. At present there was only coffee, marmalade, sugar, and a few other items on display. The only actual Co-op branded items on this shelf were the Organic Teabags. They cost me £1.95 for 80 Teabags weighing 250 g. ♥ There are four aspects to this review as I see it. The actual Teabags, the Co-operative Society, Fairtrade, and organic produce. So please bear with me as each section relates to, and has a baring on, ...

...the biggest things in the CO-OP at the moment, especially on their chocolate bars I noticed. The box actually holds the fair-trade logo, this means this product follows certain rules. Anyone who makes the produce is inspected by fair-trade and makes sure the producer receives a minimum price for the produce, covering all the costs of production as well as a little extra which helps people live their lives and to progress.
The second thing that stood ... ...But on the box of, Co-op Fair-trade Organic Tea Bags, it mentions that it is sourced directly from the Luponde estates in Tanzania, and the taste delivers you a bright, full flavour, also at the same time, making a difference to the lives who helped to grow and produce it. It says 80 tea bags, weighing in at 250grams. The design is simple, it has a cup of tea on the front, lovely colour, with steam floating above it. Also there is the logo of fair ...

Advantages: Fairtrade, Organic Disadvantages: Horrible After-taste, Leaves You Feeling Thirsty
...Week was announced to be Co-op Fairtrade Organic Tea Bags. Throughout the day I will intake countless mugs of tea, and after last week's disaster of a product, it was great to see that this week would see me writing about something I would potentially enjoy very much. This weeks purchase would involve a trip down to the local Co-Op, so off I went on my way to pick up the 80 teabags which I swiftly found labelled at a price of £1.95. I thought this ... ...up the box to the Co-op Fairtrade Organic Tea Bags however the scent and sensation was somewhat altered. The scent of this box of tea bags I feel is similar to that of a fresh pouch of tobacco; not something that you want to be greeted with upon opening up a new box of tea bags.
The scent of the tea once brewed is again not particularly pleasant. The scent is strong, and although there is a vague aroma of tea emerging from the cup; the scent is ...

Advantages: Helps less developed areas. Disadvantages: Does not taste good enough for me.
...seems that the good old Co-op have jumped on the fair trade bandwagon,. nothing wrong with that, many many other retailers are doing just that. I will now just add a description of the word Organic. In order to be called organic tea, it has to be grown without the aid of chemicals, and with careful attention to the preservation of the ecosystem. The tea in these bags have been certified organic by an independent third party agency. Therefore, chemical ... ...to look at the actual Co-op website, this is very intesting, it again tells you what Fairtrade is, it also gives you a complete list of fairtrade products, both food and non food. There is also a section where you can find out what you can do to help, plus of course the information on how to find your local Co-op. ...

Advantages: Reasonably priced, fairtrade and organic, refreshing, nice flavour Disadvantages: Only at the Co-op
I find when buying tea bags it is difficult to get something that is both organic and fairtrade so I was delighted to find the Co-operative's own brand Organic Fairtrade Teabags. They were priced reasonably at £1.95 for a box of 80 bags (250g net weight) which is an acceptable price to pay in my opinion for an ethically superior product. The organic certification also comes from the Soil Association which well known for having some of the strictest ... ...bags came in an attractive dark green cardboard box which showed the steamy vapour from a hot cup of tea embracing a subtly shaded planet Earth in the background. I suppose from this they are trying to make the point that by buying a Fairtrade product you are having a global impact. The back of the box then goes on to inform you of the exact nature of this impact by declaring that the tea which is produced in the Livingstonia Mountains of Southern ...
