I have been with the CIS for around 3 years now and have had no problems with the service given.
I was shopping around to get a better quote and remembered a friend of the family was an agent for CIS. So I called her up and asked her for a quote. Despite her not being able to give a discount for being a friend there was a 10% joining discount available. I think they still offer this but don’t quote me on that!
Anyway, the quote I got was better than any others that I had found, so I signed up there and then. This was a fully comprehensive quote with a £150 excess. It includes legal cover. Monthly payments (with interest) are available, however I pay annually. Ow!
I was unfortunate enough to have a small bump on a cold icy day and I had no problems sorting my car out. I called my agent who gave me the address of my nearest approved repairer. The approved repairer scheme is second to none as a courtesy car is provided whilst your motor is undented and fixed!
I have shopped around at renewal date since being a customer of CIS but I never found a truly better quote. When the quote has been better, they have demanded silly things like a £500 excess.
Another important thing I like about CIS is glass cover. This means that if any of my windows get smashed (attempted break-in for example) then I can get Autoglass to come and fix the glass, and CIS will foot the bill. Well most of it…
This service incurs a £50 excess but if your windscreen gets smashed you certainly save, and also it helps should a side window have an unfortunate accident with a drunken yob’s brick.
I have had to claim twice for glass, and as the side windows on my Punto are £90 it does help to have this service. In no way has my premium been affected my two glass claims, indeed my insurance did come down at last renewal.
I may shop around again at renewal but as I am happy with the service, why waste time. Maybe when I surpass 25 (I’m 24 still) then I may do so……..

Nah! Don't waste time shopping around when you reach your grand old age of 25, CIS will reward you for being older - they did me, see opinion!

We shopped around for insurance for my son (19) and the coop was the best by far some other companies were ridiculous Cheers Elspeth

I use C.I.S too. Their quotes are excellent. I too had an accident in my car and they wanted to write my car off because of the costs involved in repairs but after speaking to the assessor and explaining how badly I needed the car repaired they reversed their decision. I have stayed with them and again got an excellent quote this year.
