I'm sure most of you reading this will of heard of coke prior to my review seeing as it's been around for over a hundred years! It is also a hugely advertised soft drink and is sold in over 200 countries, overall coke is a hugely succesful and extremely popular soft drink in my opinion and every time i'm out in town or at university i'll see at least one person drinking Coke straight from the bottle or can.
One of the best things about Coke is that it isn't a product marketed at just one group of people. It doesn't focus on a target market however most coke adverts are family orientated.
Coke comes in 335ml cans, 500ml plastic bottles, 1 litre bottles and 2 litre bottles. I tend to buy the cans which come either individually or in multi packs which consist of either 6, 8 or 24. Mini cans are also available in packs of 8 but i don't buy these as i see them as a waste of money for the amount you get in each can (150ml). The packaging is recyceable.
Diet coke isn't cheap, and it's around £4 for a multipack of 8 which is quite a good price if you can make the 8 cans last; 8 cans usually last me around 4 days. 500ml bottles are available for 60-80p each however sometimes deals in supermarkets come up and they're 2 for £1 which is good value in my opinion.
The packaging of coke varies depending on if it's in a can or bottle, however the overall design is the same; a red background with white writing simply saying 'Coke'. It's a well known design and is extremely recogniseable.
There are lots of flavours available; cherry, vanilla, lime, lemon and much more. This review is just of the normal Coke. The taste is hard to describe but it's a bit like a sweet lemony flavour but it has a hint of something else too which i honestly can't describe so you'll have to have a taste yourself! It's a very original taste that tastes refreshing and is a nice drink when fancying something sugary.
The colour of coke is a caramel brown colour and sometimes can look black. Coke can be drank out of the can/bottle but i usually pour mine into a glass with ice and i find it's best served cold. The drink is very fizzy which is really nice and it takes around an hour or so to go completely flat. It's not that nice when it's flat so i'd reccomend drinking it up while it's fizzy.
I don't drink the non-diet coke very often, as per 335ml can it contains 140 calories and a huge 35 grams of sugar. This is shocking and i worry about people who drink it everyday not realising the amount of sugar and calories they're consuming! It's pretty vile really and many have described coke as liquid fat. I do drink it occasionaly as a nice treat, however prefer to stick to the diet coke as 140 calories for a drink is ridiculous!
Coke contains caffiene which can be quite addictive in my opinion so i'd be aware of that as i for one am slightly addicted to the diet coke and have experienced withdrawl symptoms such as shaking, strong cravings and headaches. This obviously is not a healthy product and should not be consumed in large quantities unless you want to consume so much sugar and become addicted to it!
