Advantages SOME people enjoy it & it can be used as a Mixer
Disadvantages Extremely Unhealthy, doesn't Quench your Thirst & will likely give you serious Tooth Cavities!
I have to admit that about 3 years ago I was a Coca Cola addict and I would go through several cans a day without giving much thought to the effect it was having on my health. Vodka and coke was also my main thing I would drink on a night out, so I was consuming plenty of the stuff no matter what the occasion was. Fortunately, I suddenly went completely off Coca Cola and stopped drinking it. I think this was because the Vodka and coke I was drinking on nights out was starting to taste more and more just like flat Cola and was leaving a horrible sickly after taste in my mouth the next morning after a night out. But I'm glad now because the effect of drinking so much coke was terribly bad for me!
A health teacher at school informed me that a regular sized can of Coca Cola contains 8 LARGE HEAPED spoons of sugar! That piece of information has always stuck with me as well as an experiment I did at school where we left a 2p coin in a cup of coke overnight and found the next day that the coin was totally rotten - so imagine what the drink does to your poor teeth! On my most recent trip to the dentist I discovered that the effects of my Coca Cola days are still showing as parts of my teeth have enamel wearing away and have gone kind of see through. If that was from only a year or so of being Coca Cola mad I can only imagine that my teeth would have fallen out eventually if I'd carried on the way I was going!
When I used to enjoy drinking Coke I found it really sweet and just a wonderful lift and pleasure to drink and I think that was because of the caffeine content. But now when I even attempt to take a sip of Coca Cola it makes me nearly sick. It's amazing how much I've gone from loving it to hating it, but as I say it is definetely for the better! There are several different sizes of Coca Cola available to buy which are all very unhealthy and packed with sugar and caffeine - it is probably the unhealthiest soft drink around. I have a very strong opinion on young children drinking Coca Cola and I think it's completely irresponsible letting your child consume such a bad drink (sorry but that is just how I feel).
The price of a can of coke tends to be around 60p and a bigger bottle is £1 or so. Coke won't really quench your thirst it is really more of a craving for the sugar and although it may temporarily make you feel no longer thirsty, it won't be long before you realise it has actually done nothing for your thirst.
