professional burr mill at home
Review of Cuisinart DBM8U BURR MILL (18 Position Grind) by mjc121

Advantages: top quality, 5 year guarantee, 18 grind settings
Disadvantages: loud

I bought this coffee grinder after my cheap blade mill finally gave up. It was expensive (£56) but I had £30 worth of tokens for a well known department store so bought it as I know the name is a good one. The major advantage is that it is a burr mill. This is where the coffee is not in constant contact with blades so the grind is more even so no more of the mix of dust and bigger lumps. The grind is done by grinding 'plates' and after it is ground ...
...this prevent over grinding but the coffee won't get as hot as it can in a blade mill. This gives a fuller taste from the coffee as less of the oils are destroyed. The burr grinder has 18 grind settings which can be changed by adjusted by turning the bean hopper base. I keep mine two to the left of medium. There is also a 'cup selector' this will change the amount of coffee the machine will grind. This removes the guess work of how much to put into ... Read review

SLEEK STYLING FOR THE PERFECT GRIND
Review of Dualit 75002 by A1ValuedOpinion

Advantages: Easy to use and good looking
Disadvantages: None - I even like the noise

...accessory. We've already got a Dualit toaster and that has been fine, so he knew he was getting a quality product. This grinder not only looks good on the worktop, it does a great job too. Operating it is literally child's play - my 7 and 5 old take great pleasure in demonstrating it to all visitors (I'm hoping the novelty will wear off soon as the idea is to grind it fresh each time you want a cup). With the whirl of a wheel you can choose grade ...
...If you are familiar with Dualit you will be expecting a stylish design, and this machine won't disappoint. It looks good and it does an excellent job. What's more, even when you haven't ground the coffee your kitchen will smell of coffee just from the beans sitting in the hopper. ... Read review

So much easier and cleaner than I expected
Review of Bodum 5678 by WorldGirl

Advantages: Neat, easy to use, no mess
Disadvantages: Short power lead

I accidentally bought some unground coffee beans and borrowed this coffee grinder from a friend so that they weren't wasted. I had always thought that having a coffee grinder would be a real fuss and a pain to clean, but I have been really pleasantly surprised! There's nothing to it really - throw a few beans in the top, press a button, and hey presto. And you can just sort of pour the ground coffee out (though the power lead is a bit short for doing ...
...as well, and would grace any kitchen counter. I'm just about to ask my mum to buy me one of these for my birthday! So the price I've put here is just what I've seen them for on the web - I haven't actually paid anything yet. ... Read review

Caffeine addiction treatment
Review of Krups GVX231 by phoenixbbs

Advantages: Small, looks great, works a treat
Disadvantages: Only the cost

...you :-} I emailed Krups from their website, and received an email telling me to return the broken one to them for a replacement, which arrived a few days later. Sue, if you ever happen to read this, thanks :-) The grinder looks quite smart, the main body is black, and it has a brushed chrome control panel and a silver grind control lever. It also has a control to allow it to automatically grind however many cups worth you want. When you start ...
...but the noise lets you know its working anyway (lets face it, no grinder is quiet). This is a burr grinder, rather than a blade grinder, so it works like a pepper mill, rather than a liquidiser. Burr grinders are reputedly the best type for coffee lovers, as the resulting coffee "meal" is consistent, whereas a blade grinder just roughly chops the beans. This is quite an important difference if you want to use a "proper" espresso machine, as the ... Read review

Foreplay Is Not Necessary But Always Welcome!
Review of Gaggia MM74518 WH by bigush

Advantages: Burr not blade, cheap for the make
Disadvantages: Doesn't really need so many settings

...this review is on the Gaggia MM74518WH grinder. Having said that, try to use a stovetop percolator, you won’t regret it! Why Use a Grinder **************** It is of course possible to buy ready ground coffee and a couple of bags of your choice are certainly a cupboard essential, however ready ground coffee only really comes in about three main levels of grinding and the true caffeine addict will want a greater choice depending on the maker used ...
...like this grinder over my others because it is essentially simple to use and small enough not to be intrusive. Some grinders are ridiculously over complicated, it is just a mill after all. Gaggia is also an excellent make and mine shows no signs of illness after approachin 9 months. ... Read review
