For the price you can't go far wrong.
Advantages: Cheap, easy to clean, cheap, makes great coffee, cheap. Disadvantages: Filter lets some fine sediment through.
After the company I work for refused to renew the contract for the Tea & Coffee vending machines, myself and my co-workers were left without our daily caffeine hits. I got the machine from Argos for about £5 and for the price I was expecting a very flimsy bit of kit that would last about 5 minutes. It looks and feels very cheap but it makes hot coffee and that's the main thing. So far it has been running 40 hours a week over the last 6 months. At ... ...away with use. It says that you can get 12 cups from one pot but in reality you can only get about 8 or 9 average sized paper cups. The only real bad point is that the built in filter is rather coarse and lets some sediment through. Use with disposable filters is recommended. ...

Coffee anyone? Sleek design at a reasonable price
Advantages: Slim, simple & stylish - easy to use and store Disadvantages: Needs a paper filter & coffee doesn't seem as hot as it should be!!
...weeks ago I won a Cookworks Signature Filter Coffee Maker. Hooray!!
When my prize wad delivered to my home, I was full of anticipation and eager to experience my first cup of fresh coffee. So I unwrapped it, admired its slim, stylish appearance and got down to business. Mmmm! Hitch. It wasn't the same as my last coffee maker. Inside there is a solid plastic filter, not a net one as I am used to. Ok - maybe I had better read the instructions. The ... ...as the "Permanent Filter", fine I thought, but does that mean I needed to use filter papers, or not? Well, I know I may be a bit dim, but I hadn't seen a coffee maker like this before - the permanent filter in my last machine was net, I had assumed they all were. I studied the instructions carefully, but was not enlightened. Frustrated, I waited for my partner to come home - surely he would know? Or maybe not! We both reasoned that a machine with ...

Bosch Tassimo. Purchased as a stand in!
Advantages: Simple to use with consistent results. No mess Disadvantages: Cost of pods, ranging from 16 p to 32p per cup.
The Tassimo was purchased as a cheap way to make espresso style coffee on our boat. We tried it in our Kitchen when our pump espresso machine died and as yet it hasn't been replaced 6 weeks later. The ease of use is its strongest point. Insert a pod of your favourite style drink. The machine reads a bar code on the pod and produces a perfectly acceptable drink at the push of a button. It may not satisfy the coffee perfectionist but for most people ...

Kenwood Frothie - Makes a lovely hot chocolate!
Advantages: Mixes cold and hot drinks, enough for the whole family; heats evenly Disadvantages: Machine is a bit noisy
This frothie maker is excellent. It heats up enough drink (for example, hot chocolate), for a family. Or you can have cold drinks such as milkshake. We just add enough milk and some hot chocolate powder, and it will heat it all up within a few minutes. So everybody's hot chocolate is ready at the same time, and is warm enough. If you have cold drinks, they can be mixed too. Everything is mixed evenly. The only negative is that some people may find ...

Terrible Coffee
Advantages: none that I can see Disadvantages: way too popular, quite commom=n in restaurants, people thnk its proper coffee
These machines are just perfect for people who have never had truly good coffee. Some time in the past, the British public got 'coffee' and 'espresso' confused, and now it is virtually impossible to go into a restaurant in the UK and order a cup of coffee without being given an Americano. Drip coffee and long espressos are different things. Long espressos are bitter, dark, and full of harsh acids that occur when the coffee grounds have way too much ... ...velvety, and has just the right balance of acidity (provided you use a good quality bea, properly roasted, and a proper coffee maker). Those of you in the UK should try Monmouth Coffee in London or Artisan Roast in Edinburgh for your beans, and as for coffee machines, THROW AWAY YOUR CAFETIERE!!--start with a CHEMEX.
Then you will know what proper coffee tastesw like ...
