Reviews of Coffee Machines »

For the price you can't go far wrong.

Advantages: Cheap, easy to clean, cheap, makes great coffee, cheap.
Disadvantages: Filter lets some fine sediment through.

After the company I work for refused to renew the contract for the Tea & Coffee vending machines, myself and my co-workers were left without our daily caffeine hits. I got the machine from Argos for about £5 and for the price I was expecting a very flimsy bit of kit that would last about 5 minutes. It looks and feels very cheap but it makes hot coffee and that's the main thing. So far it has been running 40 hours a week over the last 6 months. At ...
...away with use. It says that you can get 12 cups from one pot but in reality you can only get about 8 or 9 average sized paper cups. The only real bad point is that the built in filter is rather coarse and lets some sediment through. Use with disposable filters is recommended. ...

Coffee anyone? Sleek design at a reasonable price

Advantages: Slim, simple & stylish - easy to use and store
Disadvantages: Needs a paper filter & coffee doesn't seem as hot as it should be!!

...weeks ago I won a Cookworks Signature Filter Coffee Maker. Hooray!! When my prize wad delivered to my home, I was full of anticipation and eager to experience my first cup of fresh coffee. So I unwrapped it, admired its slim, stylish appearance and got down to business. Mmmm! Hitch. It wasn't the same as my last coffee maker. Inside there is a solid plastic filter, not a net one as I am used to. Ok - maybe I had better read the instructions. The ...
...as the "Permanent Filter", fine I thought, but does that mean I needed to use filter papers, or not? Well, I know I may be a bit dim, but I hadn't seen a coffee maker like this before - the permanent filter in my last machine was net, I had assumed they all were. I studied the instructions carefully, but was not enlightened. Frustrated, I waited for my partner to come home - surely he would know? Or maybe not! We both reasoned that a machine with ...

Cheap to buy, quality to use

Advantages: Cheap, works well and cleans easily
Disadvantages: None

I love this machine for its ease of use, but also for the fact that it was incredibly cheap and does the same job as machines that come in at ten times the price. It was purchased as my third coffee maker in one year (I'm a clumsy beast), so I think I am now in a position to offer an objective view on the budget coffee maker market ;-) After the initial clean out, I've not had a single issue with this machine, it's flawless. Coffee is dumped into ...
...quickly* you have a passable cup of the black stuff. I will point out two things for potential purchasers to consider: 1) Remember that the size of a 'proper' cup of coffee is fairly small. If you're using mugs/larger tea cups, plan to make two cups as shown on the machine for each of your normal cups 2) Coffee from a drip machine will not be as strong as that from a good machine operating under pressure. I recommend using half as much coffee as ...

Senseo Coffee Machine

Advantages: Easy to use, nice coffee.
Disadvantages: Only one kind of drink can be made.

I don't have one of these myself, but my mum and dad have one, and I use it alot when I'm there. They love this machine and I must say I love it too. Its so easy to use, and makes gorgeous coffee, the only bad thing I have to say about it is that you can only make plain coffee with it, unlike machines such as Tassimo and Dolche Gusto which you can make espresso, latte, mocha, hot chocolate etc, with this you can only make filter coffee. But, if thats ...
...brilliant. The pods you use are relitively cheap, and you can get cheaper varieties of them rather than the Senseo ones which fit perfectly. Its fully automatic, meaning you just press a button and it dispenses the rigth amount of water for the cups, and you can make either one or two cups at a time unlike some other machines meaning it saves time and energy. Its great value for money and you can get them from £31 from places like Littlewoods and ...

Philips Senseo Coffee Maker - a coffee lovers heaven

Advantages: Perfect coffee at the press of a button
Disadvantages: Pods can be hard to find at times

...have worked in conjunction with Philips to produce the coffee that goes into the pods. The pods take the quesswork out of how much coffee to use, there is the perfect amount in each pod. The pods come in various blends and types , including dark roast, medium roast, decaffeinated, Sumatra blend, Kenya blend, Brazil blend - these are all single pods or classic and dark roast mug or two cup pods and also a cappuccino - which include pods and sachets. ...
...and the coffee that comes from the machine is dark and aromatic with a lovely crema layer on the top. A sI said earlier I drink it black, if I am making it for people who drink it white I usually heat some milk in the microwave to pour into the coffee when it is made. Personally I wasn't keen on the cappuccino pods and sachet - I much prefer it black. The resulting black coffee is rather like a slightly weaker expresso. ~*~MAINTENANCE ~*~ The Senseo ...
