It is the most divine tasting drink I have personally ever tasted.
To describe the taste I would say that it is a liquid version of a Terry’s chocolate orange, only far nicer.

If you read the label then it does tell you that the recipe (which is a well guarded secret by the way) has not changed in over one hundred and fifty years. And despite many attempts to copy this classic drink no one has ever been able to match it’s quality.
Packaging:
Cointreau comes in a distinctive dark orange bottle, kind of square-ish in shape with smooth rounded edges. The design of the label is also quite attractive with gold and orange writing and finished off with a red ribbon.
Profile:
Cointreau is as strong as the most potent of spirits, being 40% alcohol it can and will hit you very hard if drunk excessively. The price is very appealing too, compared to the name brands of Vodka and Whiskey, Cointreau is quite cheap. Being around £10.35 for a large 35 cl bottle. It will also mix with almost anything, soda, water, and other spirits and liqueurs to form various cocktails.
White Lady, Between the sheets and Rolling death being the most popular.
You can buy Cointreau as a single, double or triple shot in most pubs and bars and will cost you roughly the same as a shot of vodka, whiskey or brandy.
My Experiences with Cointreau:
The first time I tried this drink I fell in love with it almost strait away (and after my session I fell strait into bed).
The taste sensation is one of absolute harmony, smooth and classy but with a potent kick that sends a silky judder tingling right down your spine. I bought one for one of my friends last year in our local pub and being quite cocky he slammed it down like a glass of coke. Big mistake, the choking sound and gasps for air were music to my ears.
“What do you reckon then Mall?” I asked
“Cough! Splutter! Yeah man, that is…Cough! Gorgeous…bit strong though Cough!”
At least I know he liked it lol.
My Summary:
Cointreau is a very smooth mellow drink but as stated before, it is also very powerful and should be drunk with the utmost respect. The lasting sweet orange taste remains in the back of your throat for ages and is absolute sex.
It is probably better to drink at home while in a relaxed state of mind as the sensation will be much more enjoyable. A warm fire, some nice relaxing tunes and maybe a member of the opposite sex would all enhance your Cointreau experience.
If you are out for a night on the tiles then I’d advise you to stick to your usual Alco pops or ales, due to the high content of alcohol.
I always have a bottle handy, just in case. Anyone fancy joining me for a tipple?
Advantages: Delicious, a great mixer Disadvantages: Sticky
...the proliferation of Curaçaos, the Cointreau brothers - Edouard and Adolphe - decided to use their own name. Cointreau's headquarters, as well as a distillery, are located in Angers in the Loire valley in France but it is manufactured elsewhere these days as well. That's not quite right....at room temperature it's crystal clear but when cooled the spirit becomes cloudy. As you would expect, the dominating aroma is of oranges, ...

...always used to be a Cointreau fan so I thought I had better do my opinion on Cointreau too!
Cointreau is the first liqueur I ever tried and liked way back in the mists of time – well I am nearly 47 so I have been enjoying a tipple for many years!
I tried Drambuie, which is my mom’s favourite and thought that it was like drinking perfume – ugh! Then I tried Tia Maria but the coffee taste was far too strong for me. So then I tried ... ...would make anyone sick!
Cointreau is a colourless liquid, and is somewhat sweeter than Grand Marnier, which tends to have a more bitter orange flavour. This one has a light orange flavour and it quite syrupy in texture.
There’s a thought would you use the word texture when referring to a liquid? If not – what could you use? There you are you see, this is not only an opinion but also an English usage quiz!
Anyway back to the subject ...

Advantages: Fabulous taste Disadvantages: None ( That I can remember :) )
Cointreau is one of the most distinctive and platable alcoholic drinks that you can hope to have. Invented many years ago in 1849 in France to two brothers called ermh? oh yes Cointreau. The receipe itself is a close guarded French secret, but the main ingredient are Carrbiean oranges. The list of ingredients on the bottle are also very helpful to everyone as they state in many different languages that it contains, wait for it alcohol and sugar. ... ...Onto the drink itself. Cointreau is a clear liquid, looking almost like Vodka. However, uniquely if you mix it with water or poured over ice, it gains a slightly blueish glow to it. The consistency is very smooth indeed and it gives off a lovely orangy aroma, which just makes the taste buds water eager to sample the delights in the glass. It must be said that despite being 40% proof which is the same as whisky, Cointreau is remarkably strong. The ...

...excellent beverage nonetheless. Cointreau is an orange flavoured liquer with a pleasant, soft taste. it is a clear and sweet spirit, most often drunk straight or on ice. It is named after its inventor and has been in existence for over 150 years, seeing little change from the original recipe. The basis of it is oranges, selected when young and fresh to capitalise on the distinctive smell.
Cointreau is a strong favourite of many people, often taken ... ...Cointreau is sweeter with less bite and its consistency is less syrupy. In terms of strength, Cointreau is on a par with most spirits, rolling in at a high 40% alcohol by volume. The packaging has been well thought out and remains a classic - it comes in a variety of volumes but always in a dark amber bottle with a solid square look to it. The distinctive logo is emblazened across the front of the attached white label and the neck is often tagged ...

Advantages: Tastes and smells great! Disadvantages: A bit expensive
When it came to liqueurs I had always been a Cointreau fan until we had our wonderful trip on the Orient Express and the selection available after our meal did not include Cointreau.
The list did however include Grand Marnier and, since it is also an orange based liqueur, I thought that it may be similar enough to Cointreau for me to enjoy it.
Well, it was quite different to Cointreau and yes, I did enjoy it, a lot! We had just eaten a superb meal with champagne and wine and sipping the Grand Marnier as the train steamed along was a perfect end to a perfect day.
Now for a bit of back ground to tell you where Grand Marnier comes from and how it is made. It is a blend of orange and fine old cognac brandy and has been made by Marnier-Lapostolle since the 1880's. It is distilled at Neauphle-le-Chateau in France and it is then aged ...
