Battery life with this brush is about 2 and a half months using the brush twice daily and this really is not a high price to pay for cleanliness. I also replace the head every three months, since no matter how clean your toothbrush appears to the eye, it will harbour germs, and changing the head is so small a price where your health and hygeine is concerned. more
I like gadgets and gizmos, but for me one the reasons that I bought this toothbrush was that I needed to address a problem that had been bugging me for a while. As you get older, the gums recede, leaving painful areas, and my dentist told me that massaging these areas with my toothbrush and a good quality toothpaste would improve this problem which is part of growing old.
Price Paid : Just under five Pounds. Pack of two heads : 1.50 equivalent. Comes with two heads, and two AA batteries.
Looking at the market for modern battery toothbrushes, I was a little bit baffled by the range available, and had tried other ones in the past which were unmemorable, and of the choices available to me, this brush seemed to have been well designed and thought out, and won hands down over other brushes. The range of colours available was not really an issue for me, although plenty of colours were available. What did impress me was what was actually offered to help my gums.
I liked the feel of this brush in my hand when I first opened the packet. It fits comfortably into my hand, and the only drawback I found was that the on/off switch was a little awkward, although this was a small problem in overall comparison with a standard tooth brush. There is no timer on this brush, but that was not really an issue since cleaning my teeth with it is a pleasure, and I tend to brush them longer than the instructions tell me.
The size of the replaceable head was good, in that quite a lot of the stem is replaced when changing heads. It means in effect that you are changing the bits that get gunky on other toothbrushes, which pleases me, and another surprise was that cleaning it after use was extremely easy and that with a basic cleaning, the head didn't hold traces of the last use like other brushes do.
THE FEEL GOOD FACTOR
I have tried electric toothbrushes before and quite like the feeling, but this one is a little different, and the sensation it gives is different. The bristles oscillate and the head moves. What that means in your mouth is actually a strange sensation to begin with, but what it has proven over time is that my gums are being massaged back into good health, plaque has not been a problem, and that my teeth are whiter than they have been for a long time because the brush actually encourages me to take care of what I have and gives an enjoyable sensation that makes me want to brush my teeth for a decent amount of time. One kind of bristle works well beside the other kind of bristle, cleaning deep along the gum line at the same time as tackling the enamel of my teeth, and the experience has convinced me that different levels of bristles and differing motions give a cleanliness that other brushes do not achieve.
I decided to follow the cleaning instructions for this brush and am glad that I did so. Starting at the back of the mouth, behind those back teeth where other brushes neglect certain areas that are difficult to reach, I work my way over each tooth, front and back and then the tops of the teeth, which are prone to tea stains. It surprised me that the back of my mouth could be reached by a toothbrush since my experience of straighter ones never did really work like this one does. The instructions say that there is no need to apply pressure and I found this to be the case. The movement rather than pressure works. The cleaning time recommended was two minutes, although here I have to admit to using the brush for longer as I enjoy massaging the gums after my teeth have been cleaned.

As for toothpaste, I use the same amount as I would use with a manual brush, and find that this is sufficient, although I use one that has plant extracts that help stimulate the gums. Luckily for me, the brush is safe on plates and dentures as well and cleans them very well indeed.

Worries that I had when buying the brush proved unfounded. I was always under the impression that a hardish brush would clean better, and I was proven wrong. Soft longer brushing is far better to teeth enamel and far more efficient on cleaning areas where plaque deposits may be lurking than hard brushes.
So what happens if I drop my brush in the bath by accident ? Well, actually nothing. It's casing is waterproof, and has been designed in such a way that it stands up all on its own when you have finished with it, so not even the need of a glass which is one niggle I have always had with traditional brushes.
WORD OF WARNING
If you use toothpastes that have a whitening agent called Alumina, the heads will wear quickly since this is an abrasive product.
AM I A HAPPY BUNNY ?
Yes. Price is right, and my teeth feel good, as well as my gums. If you have problem gums, then this really is the right product to correct the problem and make your gums feel young again and fight harder against receding, and look pinker and healthier.
Advantages: great price, great clean Disadvantages: batteries will need changing
...at the quality, being a Colgate product, I was sure that it was going to "do the job" but for just £2.00 I am very pleased and feel that I picked up a bargain.
I must add, I am not sure if these are always this cheap or Asda had a promotion , but I would happily spend up to £6.00 on one of these.
Obviously the only downfall is that the batteries will need changing, though at this price - I will probably buy a new one rather than change them! There ...

Advantages: Bright coloured handle is attractive Disadvantages: Heads need replacing regularly
When I went to my parents house over Christmas, I noticed that all of the old toothbrushes had been replaced with electric ones. there were 2 reasons for this. The first was that they were looking for any way possible to make my 10 year old brother brush his teeth and the other a special offer in ASDA. It worked - they had found away to make a little boy who hated brushing his teeth, brush volunatarily twice a day. When I asked about the price I ... ...kids and the adults version of this toothbrush, I was told that there wasnt much. So I've bought the kids one because I preferred the colour - there is a pretty good choice . As a smoker I have some nicotine stains on my teeth. Since changing from a manual toothbrush to this product, without changing my toothpaste, I have noticed a considerable reduction in the yellowness of my teeth. The only problem with this toothbrush is that the heads need to ...
