Collection 2000 Foundation

Little information is available for Collection 2000, save for their contact details (see below). I first became aware of them as a teenager - their products were often given away with teen magazines such as Just 17 or More! Their whole range is extremely good value for money with foundations starting at around £1.99.

I was looking for a cheap, everyday-wear foundation and I decided to choose Collection 2000 as I've liked their products in the past. I bought this foundation from eBay costing £1.99. I'm unsure of their full range of colours, but I chose Natural Ivory as I'm very pale.

Natural Matt+

As the name suggests, this foundation is designed to keep the complexion matte throughout the day. The ingredient used for this purpose is kaolin. Water is top of the ingredients list, but other ingredients include grape extract (for a 'fresh complexion'), and vitamin E. This foundation also has UVA and UVB filters.

The bottle it comes in is plastic, which I quite like as you can always squeeze out the very last of the product come the end. The lid is of the screw-on variety which keeps everything nice and fresh.

This foundation boasts 'Improved application and wear,' and 'All day fresh matt finish'.

Application and Wear

I applied the Collection 2000 foundation by hand without the use of a sponge. I wasn't expecting earth-shattering effects with this humble foundation as I only wanted it for daywear. However, I was a little disappointed in the coverage. The foundation itself goes on well but there is barely any coverage at all. Then again, I didn't buy it for good coverage.

As for the matte finish, I have used better foundations in the past (Estee Lauder is a favourite), but for the price I really shouldn't complain. This foundation did keep my skin matte throughout the day, but it didn't wear terribly well: it looked as though I were foundation-free come evening.

Overall Verdict

I'll continue to use Collection 2000 Natural Matt+ until I've finished the bottle, but I'm not sure that I'd buy it again. The price tag is its saving grace, to be honest; there's very little else which is appealing. It did keep my complexion dry and matte, but the coverage is severely lacking - it was more like a tinted moisturiser.

For £1.99 you get 40ml of foundation. For anyone who is not used to the prices of foundation, this is very cheap indeed. I usually pay around £20 when investing in a good foundation.

This product would be most suited to someone who has a great complexion that gets a little greasy throughout the day. Natural Matt+ will keep the shine off of even the greasiest of faces.
