Collection 2000 Lasting Colour Nail Varnish > Reviews (3)

I can’t remember the last time I bought a Collection 2000 nail varnish but it must have been several years ago because I remember thinking it wasn’t particularly good. The brand has continued to improve and I was pleasantly surprised by this product; at around £3 it has been a fantastic nail varnish that I would definitely recommend and buy again.

Collection 2000 has moved with the times more recently by improving their image, increasing product effectiveness and expanding their range. I needed a new clear nail varnish a little while ago and the first brand I thought of was Rimmel because that’s what I usually get for my nails. But I came across the Lasting Colour range and decided to give it a go because it was reasonably priced and I figured that you can’t go too far wrong when you only want a clear varnish!

The Lasting Colour range offers an array of shades, each of which come in a 12ml glass bottle. It looks neat yet contemporary, giving a sense of it being good quality. The label tells us that this provides ‘up to 10 day wear’, though I find that with claims like this the ‘up to’ part is always the most important bit! I got mine in shade 2 ‘ice cube’, though I’ve since also bought a nice red colour to spice it up a bit!

Applying the varnish is very easy, partly thanks to the ‘new mistake free maxi brush’, which is soft and wide enough to provide quick, smooth and adequate coverage per stroke. I’ve only got quite small/short nails, so two strokes were enough for each nail after wiping the excess on the bottle neck. I haven’t timed how long it took to fully dry as I tend to paint my nails at night, but I’d say that within a few minutes it was reasonably dry. I prefer to paint them, let them dry a good 10 minutes, then go to bed so I’m not doing anything to smudge/knock the varnish for a while, because it’s when you think it’s dry that most of the damage seems to occur!

It’s harder to tell with the clear varnish, but with the red one, one coat actually provided a decent colour vibrancy. I tend to apply two coats anyway as this ensures the colour and hopefully also the chip-resistance. I was particularly pleased by the high gloss finish the nail varnish provides, leaving nails shiny and smooth. I can’t say that it’s fully chip proof for very long, and it does obviously depend on what you’re doing with your hands (nothing naughty intended there!). I’d say that this has been less susceptible to chips than several other varnishes I’ve tried, included Rimmel, so I was really happy about this.

Overall, this has been a surprisingly good nail varnish. Providing you give it enough time to dry, it’s easy to apply and leaves a strong, smooth and glossy colour coat for your nails! It’s a range I would definitely recommend trying, especially at what I think is a reasonable price.
