I've always been one for a bargain but would much rather have one good, more expensive product that I new worked than lots of cheaper ones that don't do a lot of good. So when I found Collection 2000 Light Diffusing Concealer, my luck was certainly in! A under £3 a pop this concealer is an absolute bargain, and it is also top quality! At least it was…. My story starts now….
It was a good couple of years ago that I was first introduced to this concealer. I had previously been testing products from a variety of different ranges and couldn't find one that suited me at all. When I spotted this one in Superdrug at a bargain price, I couldn't resist and didn't look back!
Back then, the concealer was sold in small circular tubes, with a screw on blue lid and was a perfect match for my skin. Collection 2000 have since changed the formula, packaging and price and transformed it into a totally new product, the one in which I am reviewing now…
The Product itself ~*~*~*~*~*~*~
The new concealer packaging is now similar to the ever-popular YSL Touche Eclat, minus the fancy packaging. To start the flow of the concealer, you twist the bottom for a minute or so until the liquid begins to ooze out. The applicator is a brush which attached to the concealer itself, in which the liquid comes onto for easy application.
As you have probably guessed by now, this particular concealer is liquid based which is my personal preference. The consistency is perfect, not too thick, not to runny, and is easy to apply.
The concealer is oil free, which is a plus for all types of skin, and also contains protection against UVA and UVB rays - always ensure that you use good sun protection on your skin in hot weather - a bit of make up alone is never enough, regardless of the protection they offer.
The price ~*~*~*~
Collection 2000 are well known in the make-up world as being extremely well priced products which are also good quality. Before this concealer was revamped, you could pick up the dinky little tube of their concealer for around £2.99, often slightly less. Sellers on eBay are currently selling the old-style product for under two pounds fifty, but purchasing in shops now expect to pay nearer the five pound mark for the newly invented concealer.
Availability ~*~*~*~*~
Whilst you are unlikely to find Collection 2000 products in larger department stores and expensive boutiques, you will find plentiful supply in stores such as Superdrug and Boots, as well as most supermarkets (my local Asda has a large range of their products on sale) and, of course, eBay.
The shades ~*~*~*~*~
There are, as far as I'm aware, three shades available in this concealer; 01, 02 and 03. Shade 01, surprisingly, is the lightest shade and 03 the darkest. I was very surprised when I found shade 01 in the reinvented concealer too dark for me - it was much darker than the same shade in the older model!
Although shade 01 is quite dark for the lightest concealer in a range, you can get round it by sparsely applying it and blending well.
The verdict ~*~*~*~*~
So, is it worth it? Well the price is definitely quite good - you will find it for an average price of £4.69, sometimes a bit cheaper. But remember, this is a product that is supposed to be one of the cheapest around, and it unfortunately no longer is - T-Zone do a concealer for just over three pounds, '17' do a product just over £2.00 and even Rimmel and No7's standard concealers are only a few pennies more expensive.
Whilst the new packaging of this concealer is definitely more up to date, it just means it is like so many others on the market today that are trying to be as good as Touche Eclat but not quite making it. The metallic-y lid regularly peels off leaving you with mysterious silver glitter over certain areas of your face (took me quite a while to figure out what this was!). What was once one of the smallest concealers available in most stores is now the bog standard size and hardly easy to 'conceal' in a small handbag.
Is the product long-lasting? In one word, no. To enable some of the liquid to flow through the brush, you are required to turn the little wheel at the bottom of the stick, one or two clicks wont do very much at all but by the third and fourth you will have a ready supply, and more than you can use and therefore a lot will go to waste. The technique to master is; click twice, then squeeze the brush together with two fingers and apply the liquid to your face using your fingers.
As for lasting power after application, the product works quite well. If you use under your eyes, as most will, you will probably only have to apply again nearer the end of the day. The effect is obviously best on first application and deteriorates throughout the day, but does not melt completely which is always a plus! On spots/blemishes/marks, the concealer lasts well but apply sparingly as too much caked on will only draw attention to a problem area! For best results, apply moisturiser first as a base, then apply the product.
In all, this product really isn't too bad. Compared to its former self, however, I believe it fails miserably. The dinky little bottle it once was used to last me months at a time - with the new model I'm lucky if it can last me a month! I still in fact have a old-version of this concealer which I occasionally use if I really need a good concealer - special occasions only! (Lol!)
If you can find a shade of this concealer to match your skin tone, and it suits your skin, then the price it is selling for isn't too bad. However if you are happy with your current brand, I wouldn't bother switching over as this really isn't anything special.
However! As I mentioned before, the old style version is currently selling on eBay for under £2.50, at that price you really can't go wrong - if you are curious, I suggest you try one of those out first - I'm sure you won't be disappointed!
Advantages: Cheap, great value for money, hides unwanted areas well Disadvantages: Can show up a bit too much on skin when it's dry
...One such concealer - Collection 2000's light diffusing concealer Illuminating Touch is a product designed to 'hide' unsightly areas on your face that you'd rather no one saw. With it's light diffusing particles in the ingredients, it claims to reflect light away from any spots or blemishes etc, rather than focusing on them which sounded great to me when I first came across it. I've used it on and off for a couple of years, and was always pretty pleased ... ...MAKE?
Illuminating Touch by Collection 2000 is just one of their many products. Collection 2000 is known to make many other cosmetic items such as foundations, lipsticks and mascaras. I have used their powder blushes and a few other products in their range and have found they all do a great job. The products are usually quite simply designed with no fancy lettering or images but their message gets across and the company is not without its fans.

Collection 2000 - Light Diffusing Concealer
Since building my own eCommerce website selling cosmetics, I've become a bit of a makeup fanatic. My eyes naturally gravitate towards new packaging in Boots and brightly lit counters in Debenhams, whilst my fingers click away on eBay.
Unfortunately, I've been unable to source this fabulous new concealer for my own gains, but I can highly recommend Collection 2000's Light Diffusing Concealer to anyone ... ...spot - heaven forbid!
Collection 2000 have retained their navy blue logo, but let me be the first to vouch for their improved range! The Light Diffusing Concealer, in my mind, far outweighs the market leading Touché Eclat by Yves St Laurent, which for a long time has reigned supreme in the professional world, let alone the public sector. The consistency is very similar, but Collection 2000 have managed to perfect this item in many ways by switching ...

Advantages: cheap, blends easily, brightens eyes Disadvantages: tube can be fiddly
I bought this product as I tend to suffer from permenant dark circles under the eyes and I needed a liquid concealer to cover them. I recently bought the product from Boots for £4.99 for a 6ml tube, which is good compared to other liquid concealers, although the product is a lot cheaper on sites such as ebay (I previously bought one on there for £1.99).
This product contains light reflecting agents which are meant to reflect light away from blemishes ... ...also helps improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, which is a concern for most women. The product also contains UVA and UVB protection, which is another bonus, but it isn't a substitute for sunscreen.
The packaging doesn't have the ingredients on it, so I don't know whether it would be suitable for all skin types, but my skin is quite sensitive and it hasn't been affected in any way.
I bought the product in shade 1 naked, which I find ...

Quick review of Collection 2000 Light Diffusing Concealer
i purchased this product recently from boots for £4.99 for 6ml, and i am greatly satisfied, it is an absolute essential in my make up bag, it feels amazing on your skin, covers blemishes and doesnt wear away, it feels light on the skin, and not heavy. keeps skin looking fresh and radient, makes skin glow where used and blends in well where blemishes are covered, if colour is not exact skin colour match the product can adapt to the correct skin tone. this product seems too good to be true, and i would reccomend it to anybody who wants to cover blemishes on their skin such as spots, scars and red patches, this product is very reliable.
the product lasts for quite a while and you dont need much to cover up a blemished area, the saying ' a little goes a long way', is relivant here.
amazing product ill always buy ...

reason I gave up using it for quite a while. My eczema is a lot better in general now and I am back to using it without this problem occurring. I find that it blends easily and once I have face powder and blusher/bronzer on my face looks nice and even apart from one patch of burst blood vessels on the bridge of my nose, but it does reduce the redness so I can't complain. I don't use this product when I'm wearing foundation as I don't need to, but on a hot day or a day where I can't be bothered or don't have time for foundation, this is a quicker alternative that works well. It lasts well under powder (I use Collection2000LightDiffusing Face Powder), even on a hot day. The concealer is quick and easy to remove with makeup remover. The only thing that I would say about this product is that on a hot day it does have a tendency to sweat in ...
