Collins Gem Calorie Counter-fairly easy to use and a handy sized

Advantages: Lists a wide range of products, fairly easy to use, and does help you lose weight
Disadvantages: The number of calories listed is usually per 100g/ml, so can be hard to work out calories used

As I am currently trying to lose weight, I decided to give this handy little book go. This is mainly because I didnt want to try any fad diets. The book is, like all Collins Gem books, a handy pocket size, though I dont use it anywhere other than home. At the front of the book, there is an introduction section. This is, to me, a really helpful section as it explains how your body uses the calories it is given. It gives sensible advice rather than encouraging you to miss out certain types of food. In this section, there are a few calculations that you can make to work out how many calories you can eat, what weight range is healthy for you and hoe to work out your BMI. Review of Calorie Counter (Collins GEM)

A real gem

Advantages: Compact, Not just words but verb tables etc
Disadvantages: Fairly expensive really (I paid £4.50) but I think it's worth it.

I am certainly not exaggerating when I call this dictionary a gem. It is, without a doubt, absolutley fantastic. I am studying AS level French, and this dictionary has come in extremely handy. In fact, I believe it is partly the reason I have improved quite a lot in French. Unlike some French dictionaries, this one has almost every word you can think of in. I had one from another publisher and it was really unhelpful when even some of the most basic words were missing. This one, however, not only has those words but puts many of them into context. For example it explains the French difference between 'How much does it cost?' and 'Costing time and effort. (Probably not the best example, there but you get what I mean.)
