...Whilst Direct Line used to be easily the cheapest car insurance they are now really not. Its so boring how insurers start cheap and then assume we're all too stupid to change our insurance policy operator.
Direct Line are now expensiv and far more so than Tesco who use exactly the same underlying insurance company.
Moreover, Direct line do automatic direct debit renewals. This means that if you don't contact them to terminate an insurance policy then renew it automatically and are allowed to automatically apply a direct debit instruction even if its has been cancelled. Another example of criminalocracy government supporting theft in associated their big businesses.
I called up to cancel my car insurane and breakdown cover only to be told that it could only be cancelled during the last onth of the policy. I forgot during a house move. I...

Advantages: Great way of Finding Insurance Disadvantages: No direct Contact with Ins Company
...When it came to taking out car insurance roughly 6 months ago, I browsed through the yellow pages looking for car insurance companies, and what with me being a 'young' driver, i found many insurace quotes very high. I saw Dial Direct in the Yellow pages and thought I would try them, but they themselves are not an insurance company, they simply take all your details, and then scan the UK's leading insurance companies for the best quote.

The only disadvantage is that there is no contact between you and your insurance company, you always contact Dial Direct if you need to. I have insurance with Norwich Union, (through Dial...

Advantages: none at all Disadvantages: Somebody has to pay commision to Direct Line
...Direct Line this, direct line that. I anticipate they have a hidden agenda.....to rule the World.
O. K. So I have thrown a tantrum. They did do something for the car insurance market but at a price to us all. Unless you fit exactly the criteria set fro each company by its actuaries you probab;ly will not get a quote but instead have to trawl the secondary market and pay a hefty price to boot. You do not have to be a bad risk to fall in this category its just that they do not want your business. The chap who started the idea of course made an absolute fortune for which he has yet to thank us all properly.
Now they think they can claim to be providers of a rescue service. Of course they are not and have only climbed on the back of Green Flag. Silly Green flag probably think they have done well but I bet statistics show otherwise...
