Philips TV
Advantages: Clear beautiful pictures Disadvantages: Not many
...volume unless it is a Philips brand. Motion and crispness of picture is second to none, with no flicker, it seemlesses plays documentaries at excellent detail. Add to this 100hz technology and possibly Phillips pixel plus, you have an excellent TV which, in my view, lasts and perfoms better than modern LCDs. Nevertheless, it is a great buy, and great to watvh in the comfort of your own home. Features: Pixel plus (on specific models) - enhances the ... ...pictures.
100hz - flicker free Dolby digital, virtual 3d surround and auto volume level as well as graphic equaliser.
Dynamic motion - for more smoother feel to movies.
Dynamic contrast : compensates the lighting conditions of the room to adjust the picture accordingly
This is a great TV of its time, and if you are not fashion conscious or even concerned of HD at this stage, then this offers a basic good value for money plus a brilliant picture ...

OK, but a bit dated now
Advantages: Good sound and screen size Disadvantages: A little out of date
We bought this TV to replace our main one which had broke. I have to say, the design isn't exactly a masterpiece, but the TV is functional and hey, a Tv is a Tv!
Good sound, but is a little bit distorted when used with freeview box. 32 inch screen is really good for watching TV and films, so I would definately suggest using it as a main TV, perhaps in your living room or a games room?
Overall, a bit of a budget TV. But it does get the job done. ...

Philips 28 PW 6517
Advantages: Good feutures for the money Disadvantages: Bulky
Well this is my fifth Philips TV over the years. The Philips 28 PW 6517 may not be the prettiest on the market, but as all my previous Philips TV have been reliable and functional, after a long trail round the shops we finally came back to what we knew. I have to say for the features, not the cheapest, but also not the most expensive, like all in its class quite bulky, definitely meant for the corner of the room. The flat tube produces a high quality ... ...the feel after a while. I have to add the switch has never failed.
A good family telly which does not stand out from the crowd in looks, but if my previous TVs from Philips are anything to go by, I am sure will give some good honest service ...

Love at first sight but not true love
Advantages: Mostly excellent picture, fine sound, appearance Disadvantages: Very occaisonal picture shimmer, not HD compatible
...due to the clever features Philips have built in, most notably PIXEL PLUS 2. This increases vertical resolution by a third (i.e. it displays 833 lines rather than 625) and horizontal resolution by a factor of two (each line is made up of twice the number of dots or pixels). PIXEL PLUS 2 is the latest incarnation of PIXEL PLUS. Philips claim the new version is a significant improvement. The TV is a traditional CRT screen meaning it is deep and VERY ... ...My neighbour had a Philips Pixel Plus (not Pixel Plus 2) TV and I was so impressed I very nearly bought one - until I went into a shop for a final look. I was appalled by what I saw, a game of tennis where the ball left a comet like trail after it. I know stores often set up TVs poorly but that really put me off. I mention this tale to put things in context. Tennis is 100% fine on my TV, what I've seen is nowhere near as bad. I'm only aware of shimmer ...
