Advantages: Free to view at a highly affordable price Disadvantages: No SKY but not in itself a bad thing
Thanks to Rupert Murdoch, most Brits think 'Satellite TV = Sky TV" - well it doesn't!
First of all, there's more than one Satellite, and secondly, he doesn't own all the channels (well not yet anyway!)
Certainly, in the UK, Sky are the only people seriously promoting Satellite TV, but there's literally hundreds of stations, in dozens of languages, and you can pick them all up perfectly legally without taking out a subscription.
That's where the ComagSL-65 comes in.
The SL-65 is an entry level digital satellite receiver, which connects to a dish at one end of a wire, and your telly at the other.
If you don't mind being stuck to one satellite, you can connect it to an existing dish instead of a Sky box, but with the right kit, you could be surfing up to a couple of thousand channels a night!

Advantages: Very light and very manoeverable. Disadvantages: Bit too light and moves around a lot.
The Dyson DC25 all Floors vacuum cleaner is a revolution in houshold cleaning. Not only is very good at picking up small pieces of dust and dirt, but the filters are washable which makes it cheaper than some other types of cleaners.
I love the way it manoevers around furniture and as it has a small and low head it can get under the edges of furniture as well as under my radiators. Something my old Dyson couldn't do.
It's very light weight, weighing only 7.5kg so it makes hoovering upstairs that much easier. The only draw back of this weight is that when you are using the extension hose to clean furniture, curtains or to get behind things, i found that if stretched to it;s limit the machine would move around and has caught me in the ankles several times. This is a little annoying as i have had to stand with one foot ...
I made.
Having bought it in 2000 for the car has been covered 21000 in the last 7 years. During this time it has cost me the following:
£260 per year classic insurance.
£1867 in total for 7 services at a Mercedes Benz dealer.
£1189 for a fuel pump relay, brake disks x 2, pads x 2 and a battery.
£450 (approx) for 7 years road tax. (it is only used 6 months a year)
£1000 depreciation over the 7 years.
If you break this down it works out at under £700 per year which compared to modern motoring is amazing. It makes up for the fact that at an average fuel consumption of less than 25 mpg it does like to drink a lot of petrol. In saying that it is a 5000cc engine so I wasn't expecting anything else.
What do they cost?
You pay for what you get. A poor example with high mileage could be as low as £2000. A concourse ...
