Around Christmas time DH and I decided it was time to give up on using the old VHS to record things, and this was compounded by the integral-to-the TV DVD player packing up (review available - DMTech LQ 20X). ...last week to order the D-Link DSM-520 from Komplett.co.uk at £172 inc VAT & del. Reasons for buying : I wanted to stream HD movies, photos and music. Reviews have been mixed, admittedly, but seemed to indicate that this was the best of the bunch. I also looked at the Freecom and the Pinnacle before deciding. The Samsung DVD-V6700S (UK version) comes in attractive silver and is quite a wide unit as it supports both DVD playing and video tape recording/playing. The unit height is low, giving a slim appearance, but make sure you have room for the width. A good number of digital/analogue I/O (including on the front panel) allows it to be connected in many combinations to other equipment.
