Not reliable
Review of Philips DVP3350V by
Albinorhino
Advantages: Plethora of features and readable formats
Disadvantages: VCR always broke.
Now before you read this I would like it to be known I sold these refurbished and this review is based on that. I cannot pinpoint my disdain for these and I do not know if the brand new ones had the same problems but I hated these and wanted them all to be burnt in a fire.
Yes it has both a vcr and dvd player in one, which really is only good for space saving and having only one remote, I hate integrated systems if part of it breaks you have lost ... ...had a crapload of features, it was progressive scan, it played divX, mpegs, mp3's, Wma's all burnt dvd formats the - and +'s and it had auto and manual tracking for the vcr, it also had a built in rf modulator so if you had a tv that only had coax it would still play the dvd downgrading it to analog.
However all 200 units we had had a faulty vcr, it would not track no matter what, it ate tapes and it really did not ever want to release tapes without ...

Philips DVDR3460H
Review of Philips DVDR3460H by
ColinWhiteley
Advantages: Sleek design, good picture quality
Disadvantages: unreliable record, no DVD to HD, nuisance OSD
...TV? - Forget it! - Philips DVDR3460H will let you down time and time again. Out of 5 sessions 3 were failures - and it could get worse.
Reason? - Philips have set themselves up as some sort of ‘media police’ and if the evenings transmission has just one ‘protected’ program, the Philips DVDR3460H will delete the whole evenings recording!
So you want to record from DVD to hard disk? - Forget it! - After loosing the original tape of a holiday to Egypt, ... ...to hard disk - the Philips DVDR3460H does not copy from it’s DVD to hard disk.
So you want to enjoy slow motion? - Forget it! - The Philips DVDR3460H ‘On Screen’ display covers so much of the screen you will be lucky to see the pitch, let alone the ball!
There is no option to hide on screen displays during playback in ‘set up‘.
The Philips DVDR3460H should not be sold until it has had a major software upgrade.
The sleek and good looking Philips ...

Good value VHS/DVD video combi
Review of Philips DVP620VR by
tcumming
Advantages: Cheap, convenient to have an integrated unit
Disadvantages: Instructions / setup, VCR image quality
This product is a combined DVD player and VHS video recorder. I discovered this product when I was originally shopping for seperate DVD and VHS products. I was surprised by its low price of £80, which even included SCART, RF and audio cables in the box, which many manufacturers do not include.
When I got it home, I soon realised there are many other advantages of a combined unit. It has meant much less cabling behind the TV, one less remote control, ... ...to learn how to use.
As well as the two "halves" working independently, it also has a dubbing function to make copies of DVD recordings onto VHS tapes, though I presume it would not work with copy-protected DVDs. The DVD part has pretty much all the normal features one would expect in a DVD player of today. Sound output is a choice of Dolby Digital, DTS or downmixed to a normal analogue stereo pair. Unfortunately it does lack a surround sound analogue ...

Q: How good is the Philips Streamium SL300i?
Review of Philips Streamium SL300i by
Jethro03
Advantages: Well made, fast wireless card (54Mbps), Supports UPNP Servers, supports lots of file formats.
Disadvantages: Bulky & arkward remote control
...Very good!
The Philips SL300i is a neat little box which plugs into your TV using a SCART lead. Once plugged in it opens up a whole new world for your entertainment. You can store all your photos, music and videos on a computer located elsewhere in your house and view them on your TV via a wired or wireless connection.
On the back is an Ethernet port, SCART connection and audio outputs so you can connect to a external sound system if you wish.
... ...more Internet feeds than the Philips software. You don't have to use any server software at all as it also connect directly to the internet were you can watch music videos, short films, play games and listen to radio channels of which there are loads (100's)
Onto the device itself, it is well made with a metal case and stand and looks very nice on or off, especially on as there are 2 very nice blue led's on the front.
The remote control is a let ...

Don't go near this machine
Review of Philips DTR1500 by
Therightone
Advantages: Easy to use, mounting options, twin scart output, good picture
Disadvantages: Very erratic, misses recordings, unable to update to new channels
Like everything electronic I have ever bought, or tried to buy by Philips, the performance of this digital freeview box has been very poor compared to other comparable brands, although this is the only thing that has not gone completely wrong.
This box gives a good picture through two scarts and has the option to save electricity with a low-power standby (< 1watt) option. It is fine if all you want to do is watch some extra channels, and don't mind ... ...It is a bit bulky compared to some makes but can be mounted upright to save space.
The menus are easy to navigate and it is generally user-friendy with no functions hidden in strange places. Response time is usuallly ok for text pages, though teletext and BBCi can be a bit slow at times.
There is a digital audio output (coaxial) for best quality sound.
However, there are serious problems when I try to record.
First of all, neither the remote ...
