Simple to use combined DVD/VCR
Review of Samsung DVD V6700 by
gadget_hound
Advantages: Easy to use, quick operation, good quality playback
Disadvantages: Remote control buttons small, front panel display small and basic
The Samsung DVD-V6700S (UK version) comes in attractive silver and is quite a wide unit as it supports both DVD playing and video tape recording/playing. The unit height is low, giving a slim appearance, but make sure you have room for the width.
A good number of digital/analogue I/O (including on the front panel) allows it to be connected in many combinations to other equipment.
Video/sound quality is good, including tape recording/playback.
... ...to see from across the room, though there's not much information on it.
Remote control buttons are small with the legends difficult to see if your eyesight is not so good. Operation is straightforward though.
The on-screen menus aren't too well arranged but it doesn't take too long to understand them.
TV channel setup is automatic and works really well. The NTSC (North American TV) setup didn't correspond with the manual, so I'm not sure how this ...

It doesn't do dishes but it records DVDs.
Review of Samsung DVD VR350 by
sadoldbag
Advantages: Good range of features for the price
Disadvantages: not HD ready, no Freeview, I've seen sexier machines
Around Christmas time DH and I decided it was time to give up on using the old VHS to record things, and this was compounded by the integral-to-the TV DVD player packing up (review available - DMTech LQ 20X). Since we've just taken out a subscription to LoveFilm.com
(Review also available LOL) we needed a DVD player, and with all those great films on over Christmas (er, shome mishktate shurely, ED), one that recorded seemed the perfect answer. Why ... ...so you can still watch those old Bond movies ....It cost me £180, but I think you can get it cheaper now. It records to DVDs, but doesn't have a hard drive. It doesn't support HD. But then I don't have an HD telly or box, so that doesn't worry me at the moment.
It's black and grey (like brushed aluminium things best myself) but is not offensive to look at. Being dual purpose it is quite bulky compared to a straightforward DVD player.
It doesn't ...

Full-Featured easy-to-use DVD/HDD recorder
Review of Samsung DVD HR757 by
bivanbi
Advantages: Full-Speed USB Mass Storage support, large HDD
Disadvantages: flaws in DivX playback, slow startup, menus, copy, stupid 'features'
...- remote controller cooperates with Samsung televisions
- can handle most USB mass storage devices, and play/record movies on it.
- full speed USB2.0 support
- you may watch DVD/HDD while recording
- automatic power-off: you may choose that the recorder automatically goes to sleep after 2 or 8 hours of inactivity. This feature is off by default.
Cons(-):
-DivX playback has minor problems: screen often flickers here and there, sometimes even ... ...previous experience from the cheapo Samsung P355 player, which plays DivX OK. Hopefully Samsung will release a firmware upgrade later.
- slow when navigating through menus, changing channels, and power-on sequence is a pain (about 25 sec).
- disturbingly bright blue power-on indicator LED
- vibration caused by HDD, one has to apply isolation layer between unit and surface to prevent noise.
- copy from DVD/USB to HDD speed: about 1.5-2Mbytes/sec, ...

Samsung DVD-HR 735
Review of Samsung DVD HR735 by
gregmurdoch
Advantages: Price, design, features
Disadvantages: Not very user-friendly
...a happy owner of a Samsung LCD screen, I thought it made sense to pair it with a Samsung DVD recorder. Both would look good together, the recorder's features were attractive (a 160 GB hard drive, option of multi-region compatibility, HDMI, etc.). I was also appealed by the fact I could watch the beginning of a programme before the recording ended.
Setting up the recorder was quite straightforward. Connecting it with a Freeview box is possible but, ... ...takes over most of my Samsung LCD TV remote's features but there are simply too many buttons: two ON/OFFs, two "TV" and two "DVD", it's just too confusing. Maybe because Samsung have tried too hard to combine all most functions of both the TV and the recorder on one remote and because the recorder is a player/recorder hybrid? Also, it should have included an easier to use TV recording interface, listing all the TV programmes on the main channels ...

Samsung YP-K5 the best MP3 yet??
Review of Samsung YP-K5JAB by
boddrick
Advantages: Sheer style and a wide range of features
Disadvantages: Playlists cannot be edited on the MP3 but only via the computer
...fussy buyer and found the Samsung YP-K5 and immediately I knew that this was the MP3 player for me. I continued to search high and low round every shop I could think of but could not seem to find this MP3 player anywhere. So I decided to buy it straight from the internet. I wasn't keen on buying directly from the internet because, as I mentioned earlier, I am a very fussy buyer. However, I was absolutely ecstatic when my new Samsung YP-K5 arrived ... ...Despite the small memory (I only bought a 2 GB) the music features where amazing. As well as searching through your tracks by artist and by genre you can also include your own play lists. However, the only drawback to this is that play lists can only be set up when using your computer. The software included is easy to use and gives you the most out of your music. You can also store photos on your MP3 player and use it to view a slideshow of these ...
