It doesn't do dishes but it records DVDs.
Advantages: Good range of features for the price Disadvantages: not HD ready, no Freeview, I've seen sexier machines
Around Christmas time DH and I decided it was time to give up on using the old VHS to record things, and this was compounded by the integral-to-the TV DVD player packing up (review available - DMTech LQ 20X). Since we've just taken out a subscription to LoveFilm.com
(Review also available LOL) we needed a DVD player, and with all those great films on over Christmas (er, shome mishktate shurely, ED), one that recorded seemed the perfect answer. Why ... ...so you can still watch those old Bond movies ....It cost me £180, but I think you can get it cheaper now. It records to DVDs, but doesn't have a hard drive. It doesn't support HD. But then I don't have an HD telly or box, so that doesn't worry me at the moment.
It's black and grey (like brushed aluminium things best myself) but is not offensive to look at. Being dual purpose it is quite bulky compared to a straightforward DVD player.
It doesn't ...

DVD-HR720
Advantages: Price Disadvantages: Very poor custome service, poor sound.
Do NOT buy Samsung until you have read this.
I bought a brand new DVD-HR720 from Samsung which had muffled sound. I contacted Sansung who got Martin Dawes to try to fix it. After 2 months with it still NOT working Samsung said I should not have contacted them and told me to go back to the seller!
Yes after 2 months failing to fix it they said it was not their problem! Why didn’t they tell me that at the start?
Along the way they promised ...

Samsung YP-K5JZB - 'Buy, dont buy?'
Advantages: Elegant Design, Excellent Sound Quality, User Friendly Disadvantages: Ear-phone design, Battery Charging
I recieved 1GB Samsung YP-K5JZB as a birthday present. I first seen the portable MP3 Player advertised on a PCD music video and was immediately attracted. The sleek design shows true craftsmanship and elegance and it was the first MP3 player I had seen with built in, slide-out speakers. The first thing which I found fascinating was the touch screen capabilities. I also found that transferring music onto the portable device was very straight forward. ... ...felt could have been improved was the provided ear-phones. I did not find the ear-phones attractive and was a little worried to walk down the street wearing them. Another disadvantage in my view is the battery charger. The only product I was supplied with to charge the device was via USB cable, in situations where there is no access to a personal computer/laptop it would definately prove to be inappropriate. However it is likely that other battery ...

This Year's Top Budget Model
Advantages: Great series of facilities Disadvantages: Attracts dust, no time remaining, no HDNI
...the success of last year's Samsung DVD recorder I again chose to stick with the brand again.
During last year having fought it off for a few years silver finally made way for black, as black had for silver five years prior; I am of course talking about casings. The Samsung DVD-SH 853 comes completely in black with a nice neon blue power button. I reach my first stumbling point, the new casing is a beautiful shiny black and as a result it attracts ... ...With this year's Samsung model, rather like the one I purchased last year the recorder will burn images regardless of the disc speed. Until recently DVD recorders would only record on discs that clearly indicated X1, those discs that said X16 or X32 would only really work in PC's. The Samsung models rather capably do both.
There are recording advancements this year too, now you can record on rewritable discs, or on RAM discs. On a Rewritable disc ...

DVD recorder to avoid
Advantages: Cheap, small Disadvantages: Need to eb there to amke sure it records
i am happy to say i no longer use this product.
I got this DVD recorder for only £190 which is a really good deal so i thought. I got it home and attempted to set it up but i just could not get on with it at all. i read and re read the instructions but i still could not do it. I got a freind to set it all up and then gave it a second try. I did manage to record on it twice but both times it recorded the wrong thing at the wrong time and most times ... ...time i could record was if i there to check it and that was pointless. when i did manage to record things the recording would only play some of it and would sometimes freeze or not play at all which again was annoying. i did call the helpline but they are not very helpfull at all ...
