Tourist to the crunch
Review of The Mighty Boosh - Series 2 DVD by
charlie-clough
Advantages: Funny, Innovative, Well scripted
Disadvantages: Can be a bit hit and miss
The Mighty Boosh was introduced to me only a few months ago by my boss and a few colleagues at work. At the time, we had a plasma screen in the office, and so managed to squeeze in a couple of episodes each lunchtime. At the end of the week, I was hooked. It's an innovative show with - as I soon realised - a large, but somewhat underground following. It's not a show that is banded around the office the morning after a viewing - you really have to ... ...like this about the Boosh - it's not a mainstream show, and that I think is where it's skilfulness lies. It makes an excellent programme out of a small budget and the only way to effectively do this is with good acting and good ideas!
For those of you know don't know, the Mighty Boosh is about two friends, Howard Moon (Julian Barratt) and Vince Noir (Noel Fielding) and their magical travels. Both are very different characters, Howard being an uptight, ...

A master piece of its time
Review of Till Death Us Do Part DVD by
wonder1607
Advantages: shows you what life was like after the war
Disadvantages: colourful vocabulary and at times racist remarks!
If people aren't familiar with Till Death do us part then I will try and fill you in a bit!
It was part of one the significant television series during the 1960s, a purely British phenomenon. With the loud-mouthed, bigoted and racially-prejudiced Eastender Alf Garnett, this sitcom became a blue print not only in English history but also the other side of the Atlantic as well. Alf Garnett is not well educated, shockingly opinionated and had an appalling ... ...if you disrespect the queen or even say a bad word against the rich and privileged. He always voted Tory dead against labour, and really despised Hitler. he is your basic working-class man.
So with all that Alf Garnett wasn't the obvious character to be part of a TV phenomenon, but he did! I think this could be due to the fact that he reminded people of their parents.. He certainly reminds me of my grand parents. It was also the comedy factor too. ...

Time Gentlemen Please
Review of Al Murray - Time Gentlemen Please DVD by
blissman70
Advantages: side splitting humour at its best
Disadvantages: none
Creators: Al Murrey and Andy Herring
Producers: Al Murrey, Richard Herring, Jon Thoday, Richard Allen-Turner, Mark Freeland, Sara Geater, Richard Boden and Phil Bowker.
Starring Al Murrey, Phil Daniels, Julia Sawalha and Emma Pierson
Total of 37 episode in 2 series and a Christmas special, starting in 2000 until 2002.
**BASIC IDEA**
The show is mainly set in a grotty pub (whose name never gets mentioned through the entire 2 series), with a landlord ... ...balding and very dry humoured Al Murrey. Guv has help behind the bar from Steve, (played by Jason Freeman) who is a wimpy sort of young man with not much grey matter between his ears
Also there, (in the first series) is Janet, (played by Julia Sawalha), who is a rather mouthy Australian with a passion for bar work. (The Guv thinks that Australians are "built for bar work….it's instinct….instinct" is one of his catchphrases).
{In series 2 Janet ...

jb1305
Advantages: Great value for money, good bonus features
Disadvantages: None
...Not only do you get the complete series of Max and Paddy on one DVD (complete with bonus features), you also get the 'Power of Two' workout DVD which is hilarious and last but not least you get the CD soundtrack to 'Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere'.
This is a must for any Peter Kay fan, the extra features on the Road to Nowhere DVD are great- they include deleted scenes and out-takes that will have you in fits of laughter.
All six brilliantly funny ... ...don't want to give away the plot lines and spoil it for you. If you have never seen Road to Nowhere but are a Peter Kay or Phoenix Nights fan then you have to buy this set!
All of this is packaged in a nicely designed DVD case that will look fabulous on any shelf.
Spend a few more quid and get this set to benefit all of the extras, rather than just the single disc edition. ...
