Unless you live in Southampton, you will only be used to the old style Comet stores, with the traditional "Dixons-esque" red and white sign. Here in Southampton, all that is a thing of the past. Gone is the poorly laid out and somewhat unimaginatively presented store, as we are now home to the UK's pioneering new look Comet! With a completely re-designed logo, and superb store layout, you will be guaranteed a better deal at the new stores once they make it across the country.
In true Comet fashion, they will price match items for you if you know of elsewhere cheaper, and because of this, most of the prices are pretty good already. The company have opted for a more airy layout to the new stroes, and have planned exceptionally well for disabled access. Large roof-signs to guide you to the department you are looking for will also save the "stunned moth" look that many of us sport when wandering around electrical stores, and the new staff uniform is cheery, even if the staff aren't!
Obviously it is only early days for this new look, and I have only been to the store twice, but the whole feeling of the place makes me think that there is about to be a revolution in the electrical superstore image, as the staidly designed stores with pushy, unknowledgeable sales staff become a thing of the past. The range is excellent, and from what I have seen there are no problems in the stock area either. It will be interesting to see what the rest of the UK think when the new look heads their way.
I appreciate that staff will be going that extra mile at the moment to promote the new appearance of the store, and to win customers, but there is little excuse for this enthusiasm flagging as the store's new identity takes hold.

This is like on online advert, I'll bet this chap either works at or has shares in comet.
It is a biased and thinly veiled advert.
No real opinions at all.
'I walked into the shop and it looked nice'.
wow!
Worst review I have yet read.

Good, well-written op. :o) Haven't been in Comet for donkey's years but I may take another look!
Advantages: They have a good collection of products with staff that are ready to attend immediately. Disadvantages: Do not trust the price promise and some staff lack information on the product specification
