COMET - take your money...
DO NOT TOUCH COMET WITH A BARGE POLE. THEY HAPPILY TAKE YOUR MONEY, but do not honor warranties.STAFF ONLY INTERESTED IN SELLING EXTENDED WARRANTIES, BUT DO NOT MENTION WARRANTY SUPPORT IS FROM A PREMIUM NUMBER CALL CENTRE WHO SEND YOU ROUND IN CIRCLES IN THE HOPE YOU WILL GO AWAY!!
Last August I spent over £1,200in Comet, Selly Oak, Birmingham. £600 of which was on a Samsung Smart TV.The Samsung SMART TV was fully functional until February, 2012 (less than 6 months). From February to date, now 5 months, this TV has not been fully functional or fit for purpose. The TV is permanently plagued with one issue after the other.
Countless & hours worth of phone calls to the Comet Call Centre @ 10p per minute have been made, as well as several visits and countless phone calls to the store in Selly Oak, Birmingham.The call centre staff are not qualified to resolve this issue – they have continually provided incorrect advice and deliberately misled me. Neither will they provide an Engineer.
The manager of the Comet Store is Selly Oak is not interested either. Furthermore COMET warranties are not worth the paper they are written on.After paying over £600, I am left with a TV still within warranty that does not work correctly.
Comet in Selly Oak were quite happy to take my money, but will not take responsibility for providing a solution. They are a bunch of sharkes!There is no connect or communication between Comet Stores and the Call Centre Repair Service whatsoever. This is totally unacceptable. Both the Stores and the staff in the call centre say “anything” to avoid resolving the issue. The fact is, once Comet have taken your money they do not honour guarantees – the aim is to send you round in circles in the hope you give up and go away.
I will be going away, as I will never purchase anything else from Comet, and would not recommend anyone else to either. It is about time that the owners & management of Comet valued their customers.The manager in Selly Oak even told me that the guarantee is not from Samsung but from Comet – this is completely incorrect.
I have since spoken to Samsung who have advised me the guarantee is with them. Another example of no knowledge and telling the customer “anything” to get rid of them.I have since read internet reviews on COMET – it’s quite clear that COMET do not value their customers or honour warranties. In addition, when COMET are selling the extended warranty they fail to mention that their support mechanism if from a premium rate phone line with staff who are in capable of providing a resolution.
