I first came across Comfort Pure fabric conditioner when I was searching my local supermarket when I was 7 months pregnant and stocking up on essentials for when I had had my baby boy. My mum told to buy non-bio powder and this fabric conditioner, as it is widely recommended for use on baby clothes, so I did. Even now, using this product makes me remember holding my tiny 4lb baby in my arms with his clothes smelling of Comfort, and I think this product will always make me think of this. For this, I thank the makers of Comfort, as it will always trigger wonderful memories!

Comfort Pure comes in a clear plastic bottle, with a white label on the front and the name Comfort across the middle in bold blue writing, with "pure" underneath in a light grey colour. There is a picture of a sleeping by, which tells you immediately that the product is suitable for baby clothes and bedding etc. The product is available in different size bottles, and obviously different prices. I have had a quick look at Tesco and here are the prices and size bottles available in this product:
750 ml costs £1.33
1.5 litres costs £2.00

The product does come in 2 different types, concentrate, and non-concentrate. Basically, with a concentrate you need less product to do the same job, and therefore a smaller bottle does the job of a much larger bottle of non-concentrate. I personally only use the concentrate, as it is better value, and I find a small bottle lasts me ages, about a month or so. The prices I said above are for the concentrate, a 2 litre bottle of non-concentrate Comfort Pure costs £1.54, but lasts for much less washes than the concentrate. The 750ml concentrate bottles states that it should freshen 21 washes, compared to the 20 washes in a 2 litre bottle, so obviously you need a lot less of the concentrate.

The conditioner itself is a pearly-white colour, and not too thick a liquid either. It has a wonderful smell from the second you unscrew the lid, and as I have said, this always make me think of my son when he was tiny. The bottle instructs that for a full wash, just fill up the cap and pour it into the fabric conditioner section of your washing machine drawer. I usually use 3/4 of a cap per wash, and this is plenty to soften and fragrance the clothes. I never have any residue left over or slimy clothes, which I have had from cheaper non-branded fabric softeners. The idea behind a fabric conditioner is that they smooth the fibres of clothes, so that they do not get tangled and bobble, which I have found lessen greatly since I have started to use fabric conditioner in my washing machine.

The bottles states the dosage needed but I shall put it here for information purposes (1 capful is 35ml):
6-7 kg = 55ml - For large loads or an extra dose of softness and freshness.
4-5 kg = 35ml - For normal loads
10L = 18ml - For handwashing.

Recently, Comfort Pure have teamed up with Mothercare, the baby clothing retailer, to promote the use of their product on baby clothes. Each product in Mothercare now has a Comfort Pure label attached to the clothes, which is a very good advertising ploy for Comfort! However, I don't think this is a case of them simply wanting to sell more of their product (although obviously they do!). My son has never had a reaction from this product, and his clothes (and ours!) are always wonderfully soft, and smell gorgeous, even after drying outside on the washing line for 8 hours! Comfort Pure is also backed by the National Childbirth Trust, and its research into skincare is supported by the British Skin Foundation.

Overall, I think this product is unbeatable in terms of softeness and smell for your babys clothes, and for your clothes too! It is good value, especially if you buy the concentrated version of the product, and by buying the smaller bottles, less packaging is used so you help the environment and encourage less lorries to ferry fewer products around the country. The smell will always hold fond memories for me, but more importantly, my son can wear clothes which don't irritate his skin, and last longer. A great baby item for any mum and mum-to-be to have in their cupboard.

Comfort Pure is also available as Comfort Pearls which you just put into your washing machine directly on top of the clothes, although these are a lot more expensive than the liquid at £1.98 for just 10 washes.
